Smoking some early 2019 G.L.Pease “Union Square” folded and stuffed straight from the jar in my “Cholula” wood shank. The little guy is still smoking decently cool and dry. No burning chamber and half a bowl through👍🏻
Smoking this Peterson Amber Spigot 87 for the first time tonight. I bought it new back in February 2017😳. I have loaded it with some of my go-to C&D “Espresso”.
@Balisong It’s similar to Lane “BCA” but not. It is described as espresso, but I don’t really get a coffee flavor exactly, it does not have the vanilla flavor I get from “BCA”. My tobacco came to me almost sopping wet and sticky, but I have never let it dry at all and as I have mentioned before, it always burns beautifully dry to gray ash with no dottle…amazing. It is a tasty aromatic tobacco.
@mapletop I love it personally and have been smoking it for years. It's very deeply flavored and very naturally sweet, but it isn't cased or topped; and even though I do love this blend a lot, it isn't my every day go-to for the same reason--i.e., it's too "rich" for an every day smoke. Picture an excellent, rich, dense cheesecake--you love it, but it's so rich it would be hard to eat a piece on a regular basis.
That said, make sure you use a bowl that packs easily all the way to the bottom. One of the biggest issues I have with this blend is that it is very easy to get an air pocket when packing, so pack a little at a time and you should be fine.
@RockyMountainBriar Had a good TPL friend give me a small sample (enough for 4 bowls) of C&Ds Expresso and I have to admit, it was a very pleasant experience. So I can't blame you...
That Pete smokes really well too. It seems that as much as I gravitate towards small-ish pipes, there are a few big pipes that just work for me. Both of my Pete SH Squires, the Watson, the Lestrade, the Mycroft and the System 307, 312 and the XL02’s smoke really well too. All are kinda large pipes. I will say, the Baskerville is not smoking well, at least so far, but it’s not really broken in yet.
@RockyMountainBriar - my Baskerville didn’t smoke well for years until I finally powered through and broke it in properly. Now it’s a great smoker! Patience, brother. 😉

Really nice, Brother.
Nice looking pipe! You have quite the collection in that wall cabinet. Is the C&D heavy or light on the aromatic?

I think that's the first nice looking Peterson I've ever seen!
