Halfway through Wildcard Weekend with Lancer's Slices in an MM Morgan. I started the game with GH DVC in a Virginia dedicated MM Morgan. The tamale pie is in the oven to enjoy with the next game!
Smoked the Barley Pete while out in the shop making a couple of “whimsical” pipes. Smoking the “whimsical pipes now. They have all been loaded with C&D “Espresso”. I’m gonna need some more of this tobacco🙂
@RockyMountainBriar Thanks man! Would you believe only $80 unsmoked? It was one of those rare instances where SP marks a really nice pipe far below it real value--that's why I scan the new estates every Monday and Thursday, because pipes like this go almost as soon as they hit the screen.
Caroline Red Flake in a Sav, contemplating the snow and how much it sucks. Planning on making a pot of pinto beans and corn bread with collards to speed up the global warming process.
@vtgrad2003 Dang, now I want pinto beans and greens…..you can keep the cornbread, unless there is plenty of honey-butter to slather it with for dessert 🙂
Yesterday was a good day for sitting outside and smoking a pipe while watching/listening to the wildcard playoff games. In addition to the Kramer Extra Smooth I posted earlier, I also had bowls of Sutliff Buttered Rum, Black Spice and Winslow Nr. 1.
And for all you "I never watch the NFL anymore" types, you don't know what your missing by not watching what Nickelodeon does to an NFL broadcast. It takes the silliness to a new level.
@PappyJoe I'm the same way with college basketball. I don't watch the NFL or NBA at all, but what you said is exactly what Stu on Glenn Beck's radio program said the other day--he doesn't boycott them because (1) they are still entertaining, (2) you can always go get a beer when they're kneeling, and (3) he doesn't like punishing the many players that do appreciate what it is to be an American (assuming I interpreted your analysis correctly of course).
@vtgrad2003 I don't watch basketball and I lettered in both basketball and football in high school (back when you had to actually meet a criteria to earn a letter other than just being a body on the team.) I always viewed the "I never watch football again crowd" as a bunch of people who either never watched football to begin with or trying to puff up their chests by saying I'm a better American than you because I don't watch football.
One thing I hate about basketball is the deliberate fouling at the end of a game.
@utilityworker101 We got 6" or so of sleet. We were fortunate not to get ice (which we usually get here where I am) so no downed trees and powerlines (yet anyway). But you see, if everyone on this forum eats enough beans and greens every week, we might just be successful accelerating global warming so that next year, we won't have this!
@PappyJoe Remember, you're speaking with a Tar Heel...famous for the four corners offense that Dean Smith used at the end of every game. The only way to defeat that offense, was to foul. Fouling at the end of the game is the same in football as onside kicks, grounding the ball, throwing it out of bounds, etc., in my opinion...i.e., just the basketball version of stopping the clock or hail Mary.
Smoking “Espresso” in my Savinelli Hand Made with 6mm drilling. I didn’t get quite the deal @vtgrad2003 got, this one was smoked when I bought it back in 2014 for $47.70 including shipping. It was a pretty clean pipe except for the internal edge rim darkening and the small dark spot on the external front of the rim (somebody must have got careless with a lighter?). It works for me because I don’t have to worry as much if I dirty it up, it’s less stressful to smoke a broken-in pipe. Not that I have a lot of trepidation smoking a new pipe for the first time anyway.
A quick update…I got a three hour smoke out of this Savinelli…I guess it’s a pretty big pipe. Now, if I could only get it done with two lights, I might have a chance at a slow smoking competition. Where I could find one near me is the next big problem🙁
Back to Luxury Twist Flake until I find something else in the Virginia line. Lost power for 29 hours yesterday, got it back this afternoon. Electricity is a wonderful thing.
For a change of pace I started my day with Peterson Flake in an MM Morgan before moving on to Pease Odyssey in a Diplomat. When I'm finished with the Balkan I'll switch back to the Virginia Flake.

Small world. Son has his private and now flying instrumentation only. Has to wear something called a hood, I think, while flying...
Love that Savinelli Hand Made👍🏻

Now I’m going to have to drag mine out. It could be your pipe’s sibling🙂

Where do you live? We got a foot of this white crap and counting here in Seward, Pa.

Dude, cornbread is a staple here in Dixieland!

I know, good thing I live out west, much less cornbread, more sourdough🙂
I forgot you were a Tar Head.
