Finally finished edging, trimming, and mowing. Sitting down for some 5 year aged C&D “Old Grove” in a Savinelli Chubby Cutty. I think these were the 135th Anniversary Bowls that didn’t make the cut, then they fit them with a short stem. I picked it up a few years ago. I ordered the little 135th Anniversary magnetic stand for it when I found they had some left. The pipe has a metal Savinelli roundel inlaid into the bottom of the spur.
Did 2 bowls while doing 18 holes. Beautiful day here. 1st bowl = Lane BCA in my trusty MM cob on the front nine, replaced the filter after running a pipe cleaner through quickly, then: P&C Out of Office / A Few Too Many on the back nine...
Well, I felt like something a bit stronger this afternoon, excuse me for smoking a cigar. I pulled out a very seasoned and several year matured Nub Dub Maduro Cigar. Always was one of my favorites and man can it kick your butt. Very enjoyable time sitting on the screen porch and relaxing. After dinner I will smoke a pipe, I have my Bones "Fat Author" on deck for a bowl of a yet to be selected tobacco blend. Happy Smoking to all.
@pwkarch I tried a NUB Cameroon once....once....strong nic hit and was a terrible smoke😖
I had a tubo (4) assortment Cameroon/Connecticut/Habano/Maduro...I shared, and I’m glad I didn’t get a Habano or Maduro. I have not tried another Olivia cigar since.
Smoking some Drew Estates “Grand Central” unexpectedly sent to me by a great TPL member. He also sent the Sutliff “Barbados Plantation”, something I have been wanting to try. The little pipe tonight is a Charatan’s Make Belvedere #1180DC, pictured over in the What are you drinking while smoking your pipe? thread. The tobacco is tasting of toasted coconut and “something” sweet. The tin description says apricot, but it is not coming through that strongly to me.
So I tried to take advantage of the P&C bulkaton and as usual most of what I want is backordered and thus not in my order.
Took the opportunity to get samples of some blends I have not tried before.
This evening I tried a P&C blend called Russ's Winding Brook, an English, was very surprised at what a smooth and flavorful blend it was, in a Vauen Conference pipe
Had a pipefull of Boston's Best Cavendish from my recent Peretti order, enjoying some London Mixture while waiting for Coffee Blend dry out a bit. I keep trying unsuccessfully to find a set it and forget it aromatic.
@Balisong Have you tried the C&D Espresso? Mine is wet as hell, but somehow burns fine with no bite. I don’t get a strong coffee note, but it is tasty.
I’m trying out this Sutliff “Barbados Plantation” tonight in an old WDC with a horn stem. This is some wet, wet tobacco, even after letting it sit out to dry for six hours. It is like all of my other Sutliff blends, lots of moist topping. When it is burning, it tastes great.👍🏻 It did bite me though, probably because I was puffing too much to keep it lit. I guess I will leave the lid off of the tin for a day or so and try it again.
@RockyMountainBriar I've tried a bunch of C&D blends over the years and liked them enough to finish but not impressed enough to rebuy. I plan to try the honey cased flakes again so I'll probably try the coffee too. I've never been impressed by a Sutliff offering.
@jfreedy. Interesting cob, I'd like to run across one!

CEC is one of the tobaccos I’ve been warily circling, unwilling to pull the trigger. Give us a review, please?
London Mixture = 👍😊
US Politics = 👎😖

A little Latakia makes everything better..... and the Orientals are not too shabby, especially when mixed with a quality aromatic.
Celebrating with some SWR Aromatic in a reworked Darby prince...
