I'm rediscovering CS Figgy Pudding, after not being impressed with it on first trying it, I've found that, after jarring it for a year or so, it has improved. May be a good aromatic for Christmas...
Since it's after noon Early Morning Pipe has come and gone so I'm taking a break after watering and munching for a pipefull of Royal Blend in an MM Rob Roy.
I was turned off by Latakia first when my father brought home a leather pouch he found, it was filled with some English blend. It made a great pouch for 1Q and spent years in my back pocket. My second encounter was worse! I stopped into Peretti's for some tobaccos and mentioned how bad the mosquitoes were that summer. They added in a blend that ghosted my favorite pipe.
Fast forward to when I got back into pipes and I ordered EMP by mistake. After moving it from one pile of tins to another for a couple of years, one morning I decided it was time to try and chuck it. I never chucked it and because I associated it with that morning it's been my first pipe of the day since. I like haveing traditions to go wiith my habits!
@KA9FFJ I know what you mean, I like the contrast too. The boxwood on the Tsuge though is more of an accoutrement as the boxwood and the red ring is slipped over the briar of the stummel. I like that the base of the stem is countersunk a bit into the boxwood too. There are some tight tolerances here, no slack-assed fitting, beautiful exacting work. It smokes like a dream too.
Prepped our dining room for painting tomorrow. Now relaxing with some Sutliff Taste of Summer in a @Corey562 tomato. I"ll give SWMBO a huge head start on painting while I do 18 holes tomorrow morning... I'm dumb like a fox...😏
Starting this fine Labor Day off with a bowl of Esoterica Tilbury. Esoterica may make me a VA lover yet! Dunbar remains my favorite but Tilbury and Dorchester rank right up there too.
Went lunting down by the Yellowstone river today with my brother and his doggie. My Pete Killarney 80s and some C&D “Espresso” came with me. We had a nice ~2 mile walk in 55F and light rain (we needed the rain badly). It’s good to get out of the house on a nice cool day. My brother dislikes having his picture taken....hence only the tip of his shoe.
@KA9FFJ Tonight shows 36F, tomorrow 33F. My brother said he had rain mixed with a touch of snow earlier this morning, I may have? I was sleeping 🤷. He lives just a couple miles NW of me just below the rims, a bit higher elevation (~100ft. Maybe)
I'm taking a break watching a shower move through while the sun is shining. Seen it happen plenty of times in my life, but never looks right. 🙄 Anyway, doing some Tinder Box Captain Spice in a Paronelli squashed tomato...

I must confess, I'm partial to shank extentions. They always cause me to give a second or third glance...
Back in the day, I was a rebel, and occasionally smoked EMP afternoons and evenings, as the mood struck me.

A lesson I only recently learned. A true d’oh moment.
