Tried my first bowl of Condor Plug tonight. You sadly can't buy this blend in the States, and could only find it overseas. It's a shame, because this is fantastic baccy. It's very British, and reminds me a bit of the Lakeland blends, though not as floral. Definitely on the strong side, too, but I love it.
It's been a week since I smoked my pipe forgot how much work is involved with a new puppy! Anyway smoked my Country Gentleman with some Telegraph Hill.
Tonight I'm having a bowl of Carter Hall in a wizard cobbit. It is just cool enough for a sweater. I've got a fire going to ward off the evening chill.
@motie2 , YES, been hearing about the Creme Brulee/Molto Dulce comparison too. Will likely try soon. Molto Dulce was where I started my pipe smoking journey. Love that stuff!
Heading out for my evening hoof, will be smoking some home blended Orient Express in my Peterson Killarney Red XL 90, which based on this picture needs a bit more buffing
An October wind howls outside, causing the trees to scrape against the garage with ominous foreboding. It's the perfect ambiance for starting my Halloween pipe story as I puff MacBaren Navy Flake in my Mountbatten Billiard.
@FatherBriar -- Yes, sir. Elsewhere. I've described Molto Dolce as pipe tobacco training wheels; a good place to start pipe smoking. I believe it was @ghostsofpompeii who first commented on the relationship between bulk Creme Brulee and tinned Molto Dolce.
Had Sunset Rum today, haven’t had that for awhile. Also took advantage of discounts on Lane tobacco P&C is having. ordered some Dark Red, VBC, and RLP-6.
Thanks @jfreedy . It's a 606 KS. I've got two rusticated like this one and one smooth. Excellent smokers and reasonably priced. Yes, I'm a Rush fan and will miss seeing them play live now that they've retired.
Was out digging up carrots and noted the shadows were getting pretty long and thought its time for the evening hoof.
I stared at the cellar thinking I want something I haven't smoked in a while and then I remembered a friend in the pipe club had gifted me 4 tins of some 7 year old E. Hoffman Distinguished Gentlemen.
Figured Id make it a long walk so I filled the Peterson Killarney Red XL 90
@motie2, My personal opinion is that VBC is a bit superior to BCA, in both taste and room note. Not to say BCA is bad, just if I had to make a choice I would go with VBC.
@Londy3 I was actually pretty comfortable in the garage. I usually dress in layers when I'm out with a pipe, so it's only when its really cold when I feel it.
Currently smoking some Blockade Runner in my Peterson Billiard.
Our monthly pipe club meeting last night coincided with a pipe event put on by the shop. Steve Monjure, from Monjure International and the representative for Ardor, Rinaldo and Brebbia pipes was there. He also handles Solani tobacco among others. I had to opportunity to try some different blends from Solani he had opened for samples.. The one that really stood out was the Solani Sweet Mystery - an aromatic flavored with black currants, cocoa and rum. Very smooth, enjoyable smoke to the point that I bought a tin.
The other new blend I tried was courtesy of Sutliff. They sent the club 6 pouches of their Pumpkin Spice bulk blend to review. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin spice everything, but this blend is surprisingly mellow. It doesn't hit you in the head with any of the flavoring, doesn't bite and remains consistent throughout the smoke. It was moist in the pouch and could have used some drying out - I had to relight my bowl three times. What I found intriguing was that with each relight, I got a pop of the pumpkins spice notes. In my opinion this is a well crafted bulk blend.

Tinned, with a slightly stronger casing. (Is that the right word?)
