Decided to try out my sample of GLP's Gaslight that @RockyMountainBriar sent me. Thought it was only appropriate to smoke this English blend in a Gourd Calabash pipe. This blend doesn't pull any punches, as it's a thick and heavy Latakia blend. All that's missing is a dense fog outside to go with this tobacco.
Had some Hearth&Home Summer Harvest, first time trying. Mistake to say the least, bottom line not much taste or room note. One of these days I’m going to wise up and order 1 ounce when I try something new. I’ll mix with something and make it better.
Finishing up last night's bowl of 221B Baker Street in my Dr Grabow Omega. It's dry and cool tonight. It feels more like the end of summer. I was interrupted and didn't finish last night's bowl. I was expecting this one to be strong enough to knock a bull down but it is smooth and mellow. That is another advantage that pipes have over cigars, you can set it aside and relight later and it won't get harsh and strong.
Handy tip: When tapping out the remains of a bowl be sure to hang on to your military bit. I just had to hunt for mine.
@Londy3 Thanks! The Calabash was on my pipe shape bucket list, and I was lucky enough to trade for one this year. It hasn't let me down yet!
@ChaplainCorey They're impressive to say the least. It's a simple design, with the meer bowl with the hole positioned at the bottom. Normally I don't care for pipes with the draft hole at the bottom, but with the space in the gourd itself, it's not an issue.
Tonight I'm enjoying an after midnight pipe of GLP's Haddo's Delight in my Brushed Brown Stanwell billiard. I'll definitely be ordering more Haddo's once this tin is empty.
Finally back after a week of grandkids and out-of-town company from Las Vegas(son & daughter-in-law) It"s really great to see them, but I'm going to enjoy taking my time with a bowl of RLP-6 in an old Jost half bent rusticated bulldog a little later... 🎉😀🎊
Had a bit of a hailstorm here earlier, had some quarter size hail... hard too. Luckily the big ones were few and far between and not any real heavy wind....no damage here. It has cooled off this evening, nice night for a smoke. Smoking some of my recent "loot". The Limited Edition Stokkebye 4th Generation/Samuel Gawith collaboration Virginia Flake in my trusty Pete 268 Zulu.
Just checked in with friends on "Whats App"....some were pelted with 1 1/2"-2" hail, broke storm windows and windshields. There was a tornado up above the "rims" on the praire by the airport a few miles from me.
I've got some Boswell's Best working in my Shire Cobbit. The cicadas are singing out the evening. Boswell's Best goes surprisingly well with the cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches and coffee I had for dessert.
Finishing a bowl of Panna Cotta from yesterday. Got interrupted by a guy who had been smoking something very different than pipe tobacco. He started head butting windows. Had to restrain him and take him to the hospital. By the time that was over and I had washed his blood off of me I didn’t have time to finish it.
Today I am smoking a blend I call " Vapor nebulae de pauperen". It is a combination of BCA, RPL6 and leavings of an unidentified english. It is a cheap thrills to savor.
Having some Sleepy Creek – A mild base of Cavendish with an even amount of cherry and vanilla flavoring in my cobbit. The cicadas are singing again after a short intermission. Thunder keeps rumbling all around but we can't seem to get any rain. We could use it.
Oh, when lighting a pipe in a porch swing it is probably a huge idea to stop swinging. =

I've got a bowl of Maltese Falcon working in my '97 Boswell seven panel freehand.
Like Lucky Charms, they're magically delicious.
...while waiting on my classic southern dish... Shrimp and Grits. Soo yummie. Great comfort food.

It's been a long time since I had CBRM. So, today having that in my MM cob with a nice red, tip of bourbon and smoke in the glass.
Cheers y'all
