@Thebriardude Welcome Dude to the site.....I watch you and your Brother on YTPC often. I can tell you as a longtime pipe (and cigar) smoker, and having been on many sites, this group is the BEST. There are so many friendly and knowlegable folks here that they all become friends. Please share your wisdom and knowlege and join the fun times.
It's surprising how well some of those "antique" pipes smoke. I have a Salmon & Gluckstein with a silver band hallmarked for 1896 that I pull out and smoke every now and then.
@pwkarch ~ I was noticing the lower temps we been having this week. I think you guys up North are going to experience them next week. We are heading back up into the 90's where we are supposed to be. You are right about the Black series. They are all pretty good if you like the spice thing. Sutliff tends to hang on it a bit. The like their Cinnamon. They like to overdo it with the cinnamon on some blends. I tell you a cinnamon blend that is dead on the mark. Sunset Rum has some cinnamon in it and it is just right but if I am not mistaken Strauss: Sleepy Hollow is a mixture of Sunset Rum and a Pumpkin Spice that does the deal to cinnamon.
Today’s my daughter’s 18th bday. I gifted her a 1960s Kaywoodie bulldog that she had always admired. She smoked a bowl of TCS Second Breakfast and I smoked some PS English Luxury.
I’m sure she’ll just smoke it on special occasions, but it’s still fun having another pipe smoker in the family!
I dug out one of my old Clay pipes for the second pipe of the evening. I remember why I don't smoke it very often. I usually grip a pipe by the bowl and you can't do that with a Clay. (at least not very long )
Smoked a couple of bowls of my “best of the rest” and imbibed a little Crown XO with a few friends tonight. They were all smoking cigars, but I’ll take what I can get. They don’t like their pictures taken for dissemination on the net, so I oblige. I like to keep the friends I have🙂
Did some research on the David Crosby deal, it is a film called David Crosby, Remember My Name. he goes one on one with Oscar winning director Cameron Crowe. That is all i have right now. Changing gears I had some RLP-6 today, also Lane Dark Red.
@jfreedy, wow! Happy 18th birthday for your daughter!! How cool is that to gift and share a pipe with your daughter? Your both very lucky. Enjoy your weekend together.
Thanks @londy and @mfresa! She’s a great kid, and it was fun smoking a bowl with her. Of course her mom was not real happy with me! Oh well, we have a comfortable couch. 😉
Just opened a 2017 tin of Butera/McClelland Royal Vintage Matured Ribbon. I’m a big fan or aged red Virginias and this does not disappoint! I’ve never had McCrainie’s Red Ribbon, but one of the reviews this was similar. This is my only tin. So I’ll have to make it last.
@mapletop - I got to visit Iwan Ries last Summer. What a great and storied pipe shop! I actually smoked a bowl with a lady pipe smoker in their small smoking lounge (not the big one you have to pay for). Really fun! I actually snagged two rare tins there; Esoterica's And So to Bed and Balkan Sobranie. It was a good day.

Sutliff Sunset Rum is good, I have smoked it several times. I still have several ounces jarred in my cellar ready to roll at a moments notice.

Samoookin LL7 in a freehand with some Eagle Rare Bourbon while smoking my pizza on the grill!
This is the smoke from my pipe. let it sit for a few minutes covered. Soo good.
Smoking some Boswell's Best in a large billiard marked Presidents Park, Grant. Even though it is a basket pipe it looks good and smokes well.
The second pipe of the evening is Captain Black Gold in the same pipe. Black coffee, two sugars on the side as usual.
Saaamooookin more LL7 in my freehand.
