Only have time for a short smoke today. Leaving soon to go to a Christmas concert. Doing some CB Copper in a Hilson Viva 201 with extended stem. Small bowl and perfect for that short smoke...
@motie2 Same for me in the basement of my house. Wife was like I'll give you one opportunity but if I smell it upstairs you can't do it anymore..... So several days went by and she finally asked me when I was gonna try out the basement idea... I then informed her I had been doing it close to a week lol.
Sitting by the fire enjoying some Lane VBC and a cold beer. My consolation prize for time spent sitting in a tree this afternoon and not arrowing a deer.
Kids are out of the house. Wife is frying dough nuts and I am relaxing with my daily allowance of 1Q and BCA packed in my clean and dry Savinelli 626. Life is good.
Yeah, I enjoyed a bowl of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas while SWMBO was out and I put the fan away. After about an hour since her return, I asked, Well?" This got me a temporary license to do it again.
Yesterday she noticed it (again, she had been out -- this is after the 6am Urology thing) I had smoked a bowl of Molto Dolce. TAKE NOTE: She said it smelled , "Not bad....."
Never got above freezing here in the St. Louis area so decided to take a pipe break today. I do have some Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic setting out for my next load-up...
Recieved some Sutliff Chocolate Mousse today, finally able to get the full taste of this blend, taste buds are working for a change. Great blend. Will make up a small bag of CM and Vanilla Custard.
Sutliff CM is a GREAT blend, in my humble opinion the best Chocolate blend out there. Mixing the Choc Moose with the Vanilla Custard (my FAVORITE blend to smoke) will give you a nice Nougat sort of flavor. Now that you have the CM, mix it with some Lane Dark Red for a Chocolate Covered Cherry flavor. I will often mix CM with Carter Hall, and VC with Carter Hall. The Carter Hall brings a mellow nutty component to those two blends. I have experimented and usually mix the Chocolate Mousse and Carter Hall 50/50, and the Vanilla Custard and Carter Hall 50/50. You might adjust that according to your own tastes. I keep a "spreadsheet" journal to have a record of my "frankenblends". Good luck and if you ever try these mixes let me know your opinion.
I predict you will love it. Also try Sutliff VC with some Carter Hall. The nice part of this hobby is that the potential for combinations is endless. The only limitations are our personal taste preferences.
Well I was going to try the Borkum Riff I bought the other day to try. But as I opened the pouch, the shadow of buzzards blocked the sun and a tendril of tobacco reached out of the pouch croaking, "Water.......water....." So while it's in hydration therapy, I'm smoking some Christmas Spice and reflecting on how fragile life truly is.
@pwkarch, Thanks for the great recipe, unfortunately I do not have any Carter Hall or Lane Dark Red at this time. Honestly I haven't smoked CH in decades. When their are so many choices available I sometimes forget about the old standbys, the Dark Red I have never tried. CH will be on my next order and possibly the Dark Red. Thank you again, you always come up with good combos for a mixing fool.
Lunted in public today with some Jolly Old St. Nick today! Walked around Historic Jack London State Park with the family today on a gorgeous day here in Nor Cal.
The weather broke, it's 31 and it's sunny up here in northern Illinois, enjoying some Ten Russians in in huge Mario Grandi Bent Dublin while putting up the Christmas lights.
Mixture No. 79 (bulk) in a MM Country Gent. First time I ever smoked this controversial blend. Really enjoyed it. Noticed the “Lakelandy” rose water at first, but it didn’t bother me. In fact, it goes away after first half of the bowl and smokes smooth and cool throughout. Good stuff.
I always "think" I can detect a licorice aroma out of the jar, but I cannot say I ever tasted licorice. Having said that, I have not smoked a lot of it so maybe I should try another bowl.
Smoked Mixture #79 years ago and remember it taste like honey mix. Also Carter Hall do not ringed any bell for me, taste and smell like cigarette. Read that CH is a great blend for people switching from cigarette to pipe, maybe because the taste and nicotine level. Right now smoking Lord Nelson in a Peterson.
