Instead of using foil around these trees, I want to know exactly where all the tree huggers are? They should all form human chains around the trees to protect them, but I haven't seen any word on where they are...they seem to be missing in action.
@vtgrad2003 The XM platform is built into the audio/information system in vehicles. They have been standard equipment for a number of years. The audio system in my 2021 Subaru is AM/FM/XM, CD, WiFi and Bluetooth among other things. It's also Apple CarPlay *and the Android version) capable so there is a number of apps that it will play while the phone is connected.
@vtgrad2003 XM dropped the Reggae channel and went back to the Bob Marley channel. The artists/music is not nearly as diverse. I miss “Eek-A-Mouse” and “Althea and Donna”, I don’t recall hearing “Shaggy” anymore either, among others. I confess, I don’t listen to that channel much anymore.
I still collect physical media and prefer to listen to the music as intended from beginning to end. Even those few skunky tracks that somehow make their way to an otherwise excellent album. Although to be honest I've parred my LP collection to just a few dozen. I sold the bulk about 10 years ago before the current resurgence in vinyl. But I do love my CDs and have amassed quite a collection. I've got a thing about collecting physical media. That applies to movies (DVDs and Blu-Rays) as well as music.
My movie library has grows substantially when I discovered the monthly 'Dollar Tree' weekly WOW Sales. Once a month (usually sometime in the middle) they offer DVDs and Blu-Rays at a dollar each. Some titles are pure garbage (and unfortunately I had to buy them to discover that) but for the most part the flicks are titles I would have bought anyway. Think I only bought two that were so bad I stopped watching before the movie was over. And I find myself doing something I swore I'd never do - upgrade my DVDs to Blu-Rays. But for a buck - what the heck!. And what really pisses me off is when I find titles on Blu-Ray (now a dollar) that I bought on DVD for twenty bucks or more. So if you still collect movies you might take a jaunt to your local Dollar Tree and see what's on their shelves - and ask the check-out people or manager when the next new wave of DVDs and Blu-Rays will be coming in.
@Zouave LOL, sorry, I wasn't online yesterday except very briefly...anyway, that's hilarious! I'm a Civil and Revolutionary War buff (mostly focusing on North and South Carolina's involvement in each)...when someone burns Atlanta, they deserve to be the butt of jokes! LOL
@Zouave@RockyMountainBriar I wonder the pickle those on the left would be in if the tree was called the General Lee? On the one hand they'd have to tear down the tree because we have to erase all unpleasant histories, on the other, they can't because they want to save the world and tearing down the tree would contribute to global warming...of course, they could just change the name to something that reflects the social justice 'warriors' they are like the "The Really Tall Rainbow Tree" or something
Personally, the number of adult deaths doesn't really matter to me...over 600,000 die every year through abortions...so I don't get worked up too much about statistics like that. It has always puzzled me exactly why folks outside of immediate families (i.e., strangers) get worked up when people die who have already lived (sometimes long) lives and who's marginal benefit to society is relatively small and getting smaller with each passing year, yet we could be losing out on thousands of "Einsteins" that could have contributed significantly to our future...and we're okay with that, however. Oh well, as Tennyson once wrote, 'ours is not to wonder why, ours is just to do or die' .
@Zouave It's a passion of mine; I used to live in Charleston and would watch all the funeral processions when civil war graves were discovered, but this story really intrigues me...I even made it a point when I was living out in Lubbock, TX to come back and go to the funeral procession for the crew back in 2004. Historically, there wasn't another successful attack submarine for 50 years (I think) after the Hunley. I donate to the "Friends of the Hunley" every year. Forget the Confederacy/Union debate, it's history, and it has to be preserved.
We’ve at the point where anything can be justified/rationalized. Once we’ve established “alternative” facts, and shouted down anyone who has another point of view, how can we ever reach a shared reality?
On the otherhand, Melania said it best, "I really don't care, do u?"
@motie2 By the way, what is that in your picture? I swear I've seen it before but I can't exactly place it...is it one of those squeeze dolls where the eyes pop out?
Allow me to help you out. I was referring to your previous post:
<< Personally, the number of adult deaths doesn't really matter to me...over 600,000 die every year through abortions...so I don't get worked up too much about statistics like that.>>
A bit callous, no? I thought so, and posted, << Yeah, what’s another 600,000 deaths? >>
I got that, but a response to that question would be redundant because I've been quite clear all along on my position (and so have you)...I was talking about the remainder of the post that sort of goes on about "shared reality", which I haven't a clue what that means, then moves on to Melania Trump...why, I don't know, and then something about bragging? I know it's all an attempt to take jabs at me, but at least be clear about it

Ahh, okay; I learn something new every day!

Sorry for the slow response, I did not follow the link and read that a Giant Sequoia tree was named General Sherman.

BTW, absolutely loving the humble bragging.😍

The South shall rise again.
Nice to see him finally getting credit for his intellectual contributions.
Well, he was a pipe smoker.
