Over 50 years in congress and holding the most powerful position on earth and that gives him a lift? Imagine how he will feel when he remembers his name.
The drug referred to is dexamethazone, a corticosteroid used against inflammation in both human and veterinary medicine. It is distinct from ivermectin.😃
@motie2, the above article also says: " Ivermectin
This widely prescribed anti-parasitic which is also used in horses has shown massive efficacy worldwide in the treatment of mild and moderate cases of Covid-19, plus as a prophylactic. India's Uttar Pradesh province, with a population of over 200 million, says that widespread early use of Ivermectin 'helped keep positivity [and] deaths low.'
I know that TPL is a place to escape politics, and for the most part we all do a pretty good job adhering to that mutual agreement. I was listening to an interview today with a person hoping to unseat an incumbent in the US House. Even though I agree with the position taken by the potential candidate, something she said repeatedly in answering questions during the interview struck me. She kept stating that she wanted to provide leadership for the voters in that district. I think that politicians in both parties are of the same mindset. They think they are providing leadership. I don't want leadership from my elected office holders, I want representation! I know there are situations when leadership is called for, but most of the time I want my values, beliefs, and positions advocated by who I voted into office. Maybe it is just semantics, but I don't think so.
Me and the wife were both vaccinated. She had Moderna, I had Phizer. Our entire family still got it. I will say this, seeing just how sick she was I can say pretty confidently without the vaccine she would have been in the hospital. It's been weeks and I still feel like a dumpster fire.
@opipeman you are correct. That is the point. People get elected in public service, to represent them. I don't care what they believe about this or that, where they stand here or there. They are not paid for what they think they are paid to represent what WE think.
@Londy3; It is nice to know someone feels the same way i do. When I was a public servant, I was proud to serve and if I didn't have a family to provide for I would have done it for nothing, or at least for room and board. I guess that concept has been overtaken by the money and power carrot. Maybe I'm just an old fart living in the past and wishing for the way things were. I just worry about what kind of country will be left for my granddaughters.
In New Jersey, unvaccinated people accounted for 95.7% of the 1,138 COVID-related hospitalizations and every one of the 78 deaths during the week of Aug. 30 to Sept. 6, the most recent state data available.
@opipeman I just read that less than 26% of the vote won the German election. Now, it’s not a representative democracy like ours, but it still means that nearly 3/4 of Germans didn’t vote for the winning party. Even with all the griping of our electoral system, we’re nearly always about split on either side of the aisle, which is (roughly) an accurate reflection of our constituency overall and is more representative than most systems I guess.
@vtgrad2003 As bad as the two party system can be at times, what happened in the German election is what happens when there are too many political parties.
Drivers and adult front seat passengers must wear seat belts in the District of Columbia and all states……. except New Hampshire, where they apparently value personal autonomy.
New Hampshire has no seatbelt law that applies to drivers or passengers 18 and older.
In Florida, the insurance companies figured out it was cheaper to pay for a funeral on an un-helmeted biker, as opposed to hospital bills from a helmeted biker. Hence, the state went a long time without helmet laws. I think someone forced them back the other way recently...

Here, we're stuck with just vaccines.....
<< Most new cases are vaxed people.>>
That is not true. That’s how the term “Pandemic of the Unvaccinated” came about.

I concur, 100%...representatives represent, they don't lead...they are supposed to do what the people they represent tell them to do.

I knew, I live in New Hampshire. We don't have a helmet law either!
