Nice gun! I think shotguns are good for home defense in some cases, but not all.
First, if your house isn't all cut up with walls all over the place, you can maneuver a shotgun much more easily, but in my house for instance which is basically a maze with a roof on it, it's hard to maneuver around corners and such with a shotgun down at your lower side (assuming that's where it would be held) and even worse if you are sighting it up around your head.
Second, hard to hide and surprise with a shotgun on you.
Third, think of the repairs afterward, lol, huge holes everywhere!
Fourth, you need to make sure you can get to your shotgun under any circumstance; I have handguns placed in strategic areas (for lack of a better term) all over my house...one is always nearby if me or my wife need it...it's harder to do that with a shotgun(s).
So, in my opinion, shotguns are optimal household weapons if you have a relatively wide open setting inside your house--i.e., a few large rooms, if you don't have that, I would think handguns are still a better option.
If you want a little spread with the flexibility of a handgun, a Smith & Wesson Governor or Taurus Judge is a good choice.
Had a shipmate tell of a night alone in the house when he was a teen in high school, that a burglar tried getting in the house, and how he peppered the intruder with a 12-ga load of rock salt. Apparently that's what his family kept ready-to-hand for break-ins.
@Londy3 I used to do alot of target shooting before the kids were born. Was a member at the local gun club. When we had the kids there just wasn't the free time to spend an afternoon at the range shooting so I let my membership expire. Definitely miss it though. Hopefully someday I can get back into it
@Zouave I have looked at the LaMat replicas in the past, kinda pricey though.
The other replica that interests me is the Pedersoli Howdah pistol in 20 gauge…heh, heh…heh, heh. The Diablo is a modern 12 gauge interpretation of the same weapon. Howdah pistols are interesting for their original use, which was to deal with tigers that happened to leap into the howdah basket on top of the elephants with it’s occupants when on a safari/tiger hunt😳. That’s getting a bit close for comfort.
@RockyMountainBriar I'm not familiar but I am definitely going to look those up. 😁 Most of the stuff I have is all black powder, with a handful of more modern rifles. It's getting harder and harder to find black powder in NY. It's almost more easy to just drive down to PA to buy it.
@DSturg369 Cool. I was just wondering because I have two full-size 9’s that are a pain to sight in and was wondering if you had the same problem with the 40.
@Balisong Yeah, I guess am. Love their history, made in USA🇺🇸, great design, Boss heat treat, forever warranty and support a classic American company and their workers.
@vtgrad2003 Yes. It's also because that's the Caliber most people carry. The most popular round. I'm looking for a 40 in the Beretta. I also want the 357 mag just because 😁

That's why I have more than just a shotgun.
Wow, now that is interesting. Never saw anything like that. Have you ever shot it?
Ahh, but they do. Look at the earlier posts here. Bond and American both do.

Not really something I would smoke, but those are some of the best ones I have seen🙂
And there is a actual connection to pipe smoking!
Is that a single stack 40 (Shield) or standard M&P?
A few of my blades I carry around as well.
You're quite the Buck fan!

you know 9’s kill more people than any other round outside of a 22…other than my 38’s and my 410, all I have are 9’s…
