The US Army's Mk. 19 is fully automatic and belt fed, but would it be an assault weapon? It seems to me that assault means attack, the Mk.19 would be more of a defensive weapon...unless it is mounted on a vehicle They look like they would be a blast to shoot
I've never seen this gun before, but damn...I sure am tempted! Imagine a 410 bore pocket gun Derringer that gets nearly 5 stars for only $280!!!! Most Derringers get crap reviews...
@vtgrad2003 Those Big Bore Bond Derringers have been around for years. I think they started with them in 45-70 Govt. Now that’s what I call a derringer round.
@RockyMountainBriar To be honest, I've never really paid attention to anything outside of the traditional SW's, Rugers, etc., I was mostly focused on building my collection of SW's for competition shooting, but since competition isn't happening much anymore (b/c of the covid crap and price of ammo), this is really the first time I've started looking "outside the box" for more unusual specimens.
@vtgrad2003 I’m mistaken. The 45-70 is in an American Arms Alaskan Model 4 derringer. I have thought about those Bond 45/410, but the price kept me away. I have a basement Rexio (“Cherokee”?) break action single shot 6” that shoots 45/410. It is dang tricky hitting clay pigeons out of a spring trap with it. You gotta be lightning quick before the clay is out of range…..which is about 10 yards with 7 1/2-8 shot. I keep it in the lockbox on my 4-Wheeler along with a Jennings .22 pistol. Both cheap-ass firearms, but they don’t mind the beating riding around on the 4-Wheeler, and the both always go bang when I use them.
@RockyMountainBriar Cool! I've never shot competitively for money or anything, just in various "plinkers clubs" competitions...amateur stuff. Mine was a 38 snub club...the prize was that you didn't have to buy the beer that day! My wife, on the other hand, deadly accurate with a single stack 9 under 18 oz.
At one of my rifle club Action Pistol Matches (years ago). My best time to clear 5 bowling pins from the table, from a “low ready”, with my stock Colt 1911 Series 70 45ACP was 3.69 seconds. I was flying that day. I took first place in that portion of the match. I did well overall that day. I actually made it into the money.
The club I belong to did not allow drawing from the holster at that time, hence the “low ready”. They do now though.
@vtgrad2003, thanks man. Here is a better shot of the grip. I really like it. It feels great in the hand and all fingers are in the grip. I don't like the pinky fly away on some of these concealed carry guns.
@Londy3 Here's a couple of shots of mine...it's a square butt grip obviously, but you can see how the finish is on the inside as its my primary carry weapon, so it's needs refinishing, but, like contemplating refinishing an old pipe versus buying a new one, the same holds here. I've been shopping around thinking I might want to get a new one and one like yours is an option (with the pointed/rounded butt). But I have a couple of questions if you'll humor me...
First, your grip seems 'slimmer' than mine. That said, you can see that mine rises up underneath the cylinder release, covering up some of the SW stamp and almost touching the release...yours seems to start much further down the frame; when sighting it with two hands, my thumb rests nicely just underneath the release because there is a lot of 'meat' there to rest on, when you sight it, where does your thumb rest? Does it feel "natural" or more like your thumb is 'trying to find' a resting place...if that makes any sense.
Second, carrying inside the waistband (assuming you do), does the butt on your grip hit the edge of the driver's seat? Are you having to adjust the cant of the gun after you get in the vehicle?
Third, where did you get it and how much was it? You don't have to answer the latter if you don't want to...but I'm assuming about $75. Mine was fairly pricey because it was custom made for me and that's why it looks so odd on the gun...i.e., it doesn't profile as naturally as your does, but it's made to fit my hand. But my hand has also slightly changed shape as I've gotten older, and that's another reason I'm considering another grip.
By the way, ignore how nasty the counter top is, I had just finished feeding my cats their canned food for the day, and as usual, it gets all over the place! LOL
I guess some of us are missing the point of the title of the thread…a thread that was here when I signed up to the forum. Seems like it should be fine to post pictures of guns to this thread given it’s topic…again, I guess I’m missing something.
I just find it interesting that this discussion gets more traffic than some others like the one about pets. I’m not saying it’s out of place or inappropriate. I am just curious and wonder if posting pipes on other forums would lead to new pipe smokers.

Yep, that is a favored sign of mine as well.

Yeah the prices are finally coming down. I get alerts too but I'm still not buying right now.

I use to shoot competition (handgun). Now I’m afraid to shoot my ammo up.

Nice grip you have there on that 637!

What the hell can't you do?
That's awesome man!

Do you guys post pictures of your pipes on gun forums?
I've been thinking about one of the Bond derringers, but haven't pulled the trigger, yet.
