Defensive and Everyday Carry

Decided to make this a separate thread since so many of us carry.  Thought it would be cool to share what you carry, collect or enjoy as a hobby along with your pipe.  Here are just a few things I carry daily. 


I like going to the range and hit targets. Me and my buddies go to the range and share shooting each other's guns. We have .22, 9mm, .38 and .357 Magnum.  This is my Smith and Wesson 637 .38 Special Performance Center revolver for CCW.  This is single and double action +p rated. I will be getting the S&W 686+ 4" .357 Magnum Performance Center in the fall. The knife is a Karambit which is extremely sharp and delivers horrifying lacerations. The knife is full tang and D2 stainless steel. The little leather pouch with the key ring is my favorite thing. It holds my mandolin pick, because you just never know when your going to jam with a band.  Yes, this happens to me more than you would think. So fun.

Used to know a guy whose off-duty carry was a .44 Automag. He was big enough so the "concealment" pretty well worked.

Yeah, it's hard to conceal a full size gun like the 686+ so my EDC is the 637 and I'm good with it. I'm not a big guy.

Nice looking Karambit there's a body of techniques that go with them, do you study knife fighting?

 @Balisong yes there is a ton of technique. This comes from the Philippines martial arts. I am in defensive learning mode all around. It's good mind control, physical exercise and fun.

Londy3, there's a yearly tournament of Philippine arts in I believe NJ called the Baquavan (excuse the spelling) that is supposed to be amazing. Have you ever attended?

@Balisong I have not. This is new to me and I wanted something a little different to carry other than my pocket knife. You can't always have your gun in certain places and knives have far less regulation.  I've seen these things in action and they are very effective.

@Londy3 My wife carries a 642 as she struggles with the slides on most automatics, May have her try the new M&P Shield EZ as the double action even with a trigger job is a bit too much trigger pull for her.

Have to get more stuff out for my kid, so I will endevour to post another picture tomorrow.

I think anybody who would carry a .25 ACP in preference to even the lowly .22 LR is deliberately going for underpowered. I kinda consider the .25 a sort of novelty gun, as a sort-of "mini" .45 ACP.

Although I have choices, I carry this Taurus PT709 Slim, with Crimson Trace, along with an extra mag. It's a 7 plus 1  9mil. I have put over 600 rounds through it without a hitch, so I know it's reliable. 
I have an inside the belt hip holster, but for convenience I usually use a Sticky which surprisingly stays put no matter what the activity...

@Londy3 It's a holster that simply slips in anywhere you want inside your waistband and it stays there... on its own...

@Londy3 It's the material the holster is made of. It is actually a little sticky and stays put pretty well. Eventually the grabbing power of the holster begins to wear off, but a simple soap/water washing brings it right back to its original sticking/grabbing power. Really, you should check it out on their website. They used to have a video also. Been a while so I don't know if that is the case. So really... check it out...

Also, the holster is counting on a tight belt as well. It won't just stick ANYWHERE...;)

I do love my 1791 gunleather too. Amazing handmade quality. My IWB is deer hide and smells great. They have gun belts too. I need one.

Beretta cx4 Storm 9mm  30 roumd mags,

A Remington 870 that I have modified for European style pheasant hunts, holds 10 rounds, I had to make the sling myself as no one made one as long as this gun required

Savage 22-250  another doggin gun, and my favorite for this purpose, out to a 1000 yds no problem

As a side note this last gun was a birthday present from my wife, I have a great wife.

I carry the same model airweight 38 on my ankle while on duty as my backup. I've always liked it as a pocket gun.

Backup backup.  I have the belt buckle for the .22 mini revolver.  I made the belt slide for the derringer.

Either one of the S&W Model 60’s or a Star Firestar .40.  Usually the Firestar, if I have to use it for self defense (God Forbid) I would not be as heartbroken if it was kept for evidence for awhile.
