@Londy3; Thank you Brother. I'll post my 54 cal Hawken Rifle as soon as I figure out how to showcase it. It was my first kit build. It took several months, but it is a hoot to shoot!
@opipeman I found a picture of a couple of old flintlocks that were sold at auction recently. Can't remember how much they went for, but they were from the Revolutionary War period.
@opipeman a while back I made these kit Harpers Ferry Pistols. 58 cal. Honestly I don't know how you could shoot these one handed. They want to jump right over your shoulder.
1 Cladio Cavicchi (CCCC) $575 4 new spinning reels $600 4 new tires for my truck $1,200 1 box of Davidoff Anniversario $500 66 tins of pipe tobacco $725
@Zouave; Looks like you did some good work. One or both hands, they are really fun to shoot. Hard to believe our ancestors went to war with these weapons.
Ok, here is my first kit build 54 Cal. Hawken. I was on vacation in my home town S.E. Missouri and drove over to Dixie Gun Works in Union City TN. and picked it out.
It took me a few months of evenings and weekends to get it finished. I tried to make it look like a Mountain Man Rifle from the fur trade era.
@Zouave; Thanks. There are three different sizes of tacks. When I was at Dixie Gun Works They had the late founder's Antique Derringer Collection on display. It was beyond impressive.
@opipeman Ah, S.E. Missouri... my old alma mater stomping grounds. Went to SEMO, Cape Girardeau on a pole vaulting scholarship... Sorry about being off topic.
It’s all original too, not a cobbled together “parts gun” imitation. I bought it used years and years ago, the “kit” is only missing a minor part or two? I think they came with a Colt keychain or something? I added the two speedloaders and the grips that are on it. I have shot 6 shot groups of 2” at 100 yards off of the bench with off the shelf remanufactured ammo. Sexy (as @Londy3) says…ain’t it🙂 Oh, it has at least one whitetail buck to it’s name too.
@RockyMountainBriar; You are pulling my leg, they are to secure your pistol when not in use. I have one, but have never used it. I keep my 38 loaded in a gun case within easy reach. With grand kids around it is absolutely necessary.
@KA9FFJ; My mothers brother graduated from SEMO at Cape. He was the first in our family to graduate from college. I was the second. It took me nearly 30 years to accomplish.
@RockyMountainBriar Sweet man. I originally purchased the 6" but started to think about the practical use of that barrel length and carry ability. So, I got the 4" and very happy with it and the leather belt and holster. It may be fun to put these two boys together for a little shootin time. See what's what 😁

Never did the kit thing. Never really considered it. I would like an AR though

They were more than weapons. They were works of art!
I know right?
@opipeman
I agree definitely works of art
As the old saying goes "move South young man"
That is a sad thing to hear!

Looking at your weapon is causing me to become aroused.
I can’t wait to see @Londy3’s reaction😁
Those are for gelding a stallion!
