Sorry, misread your post, but the bottom line is that with guns that have less abrasive grips, I tend to be spot on with the foot forward stance, but with guns with more abrasive grips, I tend to shoot to the left and squaring up usually corrects that.
@vtgrad2003 Interesting. I have astigmatism that messes with my sights. I have to move all of my iron sights off the right side of the handguns, on the ones that have windage adjustment anyway. Rifles too, but they are not as noticeable for some reason. It’s kinda funny when friends shoot my handguns, they can’t hit shit with them😬
Had to change out my concealed carry. Was a M/P Shield 45, but with my arthritis was having problems getting a firm grip on the slide and racking it. So a friend let me try out several of his 9mm. Really liked the Taurus GX4. Felt really good in the hand. Put several hundred rounds through it, and was able to rack the slide with no problem. So just picked my own, course now I have to get all new holsters which is always a pain. 😀
@addamsruspipe Good for you! There are a lot of guns with stiff slides, which is one reason I try to recommend a revolver for female carriers in particular. My wife even has issues with the slide in her gun...everyone ducks when she racks the slide. Even though I do primarily carry a 38 in summer, I still carry a 9mm pistol the rest of the year, but once racking becomes an issue for me (which it will for all of us at some point), I'll probably just stick with a revolver all year long.
I've always primarily shot 380, 9mm and 38 special. The whole concept of "stopping power" is ridiculous, especially if you're carrying every day--training is key to a successful takedown of a perp but unfortunately, it's something most people don't do enough of. I do have a Governor, 410/45, but that is a nightstand gun for the purpose of increasing the probability of a hit while dark (i.e, 000 buck or Hornady in the 410). The 45 Shield that you had, in particular, is a jumpy gun in a 45 cal (its relatively light)...you're best off with a 9mm anyway in my opinion.
A .22 is better than nothing, especially loaded FMJ MiniMag/Stingers alternating. I’m not sure a .25 is though🤔, and I’m pretty sure a .32 will get the job done, also loaded FMJ/HP alternating.
I did not know Precision One ammo was made in Charleston, SC...I'll start buying more of it then. Seems to go through my pistols without issue as well.
In my teens and 20's it was more often simply because of the community I grew up in, but since then, I've been involved in 2 incidents where just showing my gun stopped an attack (see article), both would have likely ended far worse if I wasn't armed.
Been challenging myself to shoot both eyes open. As you would under distress in heavy adrenaline rush to defend and protect. It's very difficult for me.
My first shots with the 686+ at 25 feet in bright sunshine outdoors.
@Londy3 When I shoot, I have always kept both eyes open….sort of. When I am shooting for precision I close my left eye just long enough to pick up my sights then open it. If I am shooting for speed, things just happen. I use to shoot “action pistol” and IPSC and do some single-action quick draw. My best time for action pistol was 3.69 seconds to clear five bowling pins from the table with my Colt Gov’t 1911 Series 70, no compensator, no extended mag. The club I was at didn’t allow draw from the holster (liability insurance) so it was started at the “low ready” position. Handgun in hand at your side, safety on “cocked and locked”, one round in the pipe and mag topped, and very important, finger off of the trigger and safety engaged until pointed down range.
Oh, the bowling pins were set up on a 4’x8’ table evenly spaced in a line 1’ from the front of the table, distance to pins was 15 yards. All pins need to be completely off of the table to stop the timer. Man I love shooting steel and bowling pins, “reactive targets”. It so much more satisfying than paper, although IPSC is great fun with the different “real life” scenario set ups.
P.S. Pretty sure I could not do that today with my “old balls” 🙁
Those targets look like they would be great fun. It’s one of the few steel targets I have not shot. I have not even seen one in the “flesh”☹️ I like the Dueling Post, but it’s more of a competition thing. The “Medusa” looks more single shooter.

I'd call him dead.

If he ain't dead, he'll need a change of shorts.
I have a lot of work to do
Looks like good shooting to me.

I agree, paper targets get boring. I like shooting steel and the five star steel wheel. That's a blast.
😂.. yeah, I'm not messing around. That is a beast of a gun too.
I have a buddy who just bought this.😂🤣
Cleaned up the boys after 😎
Yeah man, this is my favorite target. Never gets old.
Those are a couple of sweet looking shooters.
Thanks man. They re really great. Very pleased with my choice.
