@KA9FFJ - It was definitely a pipe made for Bayou Tobacco as a "House Pipe" much like the Peterson Kapp-Royal I have that was made for Iwan Ries as a house pipe.
Coming soon to a blog near you! I just found what I have identified so far as a Savory Sitting Poker at an antique shop in Daphne, Al. Working on the restoration now...
H. L. Savory & Co. was a pipe maker in London dating back to the mid to late-1800s and bought out by Dunhill in the 1930's. Not sure when they stopped production. Based on the Crown over S logo (similar to the Stanwell logo) this is from the Savory Argyll line. The other lines of Savory pipes had a capital S as the logo.
Here we go again. Wife wanted to get out of the house so we drove just to the other side of New Orleans to check out some "junktique" stores we haven't been to lately. The first store just had a 7-pipe set of BBB Thornycraft pipes that sold almost immediately after they posted a picture of it on facebook. No. I didn't buy it.
First. Here is what I didn't buy. It's a pipe stand with a humidor. They said it is from the Black Forest region of Germany. The list price is $250 but everything in the store was 45% off, so the sale price was $138. Again, I didn't buy it but I have to say I was tempted.
Second thing I didn't buy was this framed tobacco ad. Even with the 45% off of the $70 asking price, I wasn't interested.
Finally, here is what I did buy. It's a Holt-Howard earthen-ware crock with handle and lid with a large tobacco ad on the front. With the 45% discount, it only cost me $35 plus tax.
So I found a pipe stand and bought a pipes to go with it. One is a Forecaster with no stem, 2 Medico's, one an Apollo the other a Medalist. The last 2 are a Royal Lancer and one that has a name but is no longer legible. Is there anyone that has any idea where i might find a stem for the Forecaster and any info for the one that remains unnamed?
@Friggem I would make a stainless steel insert and epoxy or “Superglue” it in place. I have a Comoy’s “Grand Slam” billiard I had to do this to. You really have to look closely to see the repair from the outside. You can see the stainless steel liner on the inside of the shank though.
I finally sniped a Cool estate Dragon Meerschaum on EBay. It is even larger than I expected. I have been looking for just the right kind of dragon with a decent level of “realistic” detail since I first started smoking a pipe. If I sniped it from someone on here, I’m sorry.......nah.....Not Sorry😬
Next, I taped the band and stamping and went to work on the rim. Had to bring it down less than a 64th before I was finally happy... The last 2 pics represent the initial topping, and the first pic was the final...
@PappyJoe Not sure why that post was directed to @thebadgerpiper? I put “realistic” in quotes, to allude to the belief that dragons are mythical creatures that didn’t or don’t exist. I wish I was as smart as some pipe smokers. I’m not that bright, I guess I’m just the moron part.

Great day at the neighborhood yard sales. All this for $40. What a deal.
