Very true, I’m located in Central Florida, We get the usual Thunderstorms and high Winds just about everyday in the Summer, but nothing like what you folks have gone through this year,@PappyJoe.
@kellyg53 Glad you seem to be on the up and up. It's been a Hell of a year for many of us. Can't wait to see 2020 come to an end. Problem is ... doesn't seem like 2021 will be much better.
Happy Veterans' Day to all my former "Brothers in Arms".....we all did the right thing at the right time for the right reasons. "God Bless us Everyone".
Dealing with another mature oak tree that came crashing down on my roof due to high winds. Considerable damage - then to make matters worse we had a torrential rain that evening and water came pouring down my bedroom ceiling. So that's a whole new can of worms we have to deal with. Emergency repairs located five holes in the roof after removing the tree (which was also tangled up in the electrical wires coming from the pole to my house ... bent the masthead as well). One hole was large enough for the guy to stick his arm in and pull out some of the wet insulation. Currently we have two giant industrial dehumidifies in the bedroom from some company that does water damage repairs. Hopefully they don't have to tear down all the ceiling dry wall. Now waiting for the insurance adjuster to assess the cost for repairs. This will be the second time this year I had roof damage from trees. The first time it was minor ... this time the whole dam tree came down on our house. Scared the shit out of me. Hope they don't cancel my insurance after this fiasco. Got trees all around my house - and only one or two are on my actual property, so there's not much I can do about it.
The winds here in NE Ohio were very strong, my best friends power was taken out by his neighbors tree that fell in his yard and took out the power lines, him and his wife had to stay at a hotel because he is on dialysis and has to have electric to run his equipment until he receives his kidney transplant.
@AnantaAndroscoggin Always wondered about the vets from World War I & II who had metal plates put in their head instead of the plastics they use now in the event of a severe head injury - and if it made them more susceptible to lightning strikes.
We had a blackout hereabouts last night. Went out to get a hot meal, and on the way home, about 100 yards short of my driveway, was a tree across the road. Went out to move it, pivoted one end to the verge, went to grab the other end and found myself toppling forward. Ended up falling on my face and smashing and twisting my glasses. But we got home! still no power until we got home from my wife's morning Dr. appointment.
It's been interesting trying to keep my left eye deliberately open, despite the swelling from the lump above my left eye trying to make it stay closed. At least the VA was right on the jump about taking care of my glasses.

Just sayin’ ........
I have a large American Flag flying 24/7 with 2 spotlights.....lights up the entire front of my house.
This summer we had the giant gum tree in out backyard taken down for several thousand dollars. It was dying at the top.
A stitch in time.....
Joe, you have my sympathy, for what it’s worth, which ain’t much.....
WHAT A YEAR! Hopefully, you have turned the corner and it will all work out. You are in my prayers!

What age is the right age?
”Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
I don't know about everyone one else, but it seems it has been that kind of a year. Sorry for your misfortune.
