Since I’m going to be at home with my son for the foreseeable future, I figured I’d use the spare time (when that comes) to accomplish something. So I figured now was as good of a time as any to learn how to play the bagpipes.
There’s a local band that will teach me, with the understanding that I’ll join once I’m proficient enough. So I bought a practice chanter and will begin my lessons this week.
Sleep deprivation is nothing compared to what the coming years of fatherhood are going to do to you. Wait until he can move around. Wait until he learns “no.” Wait until the first time he borrows the car.
@thebadgerpiper I haven't slept in over ten years, and from all the advice I seem to get....looks like my sleepless nights are going to keep going on for the next 15 more years or so??? 😂 This is a funny parenting story il share, the other day my daughter found a picture of me pre kids. She immediately asked "dad!!! What happened to you??? Your all grey now?!?!".... I had to bite my tongue and not yell. "YOU! your what happened to me!!!". 😂😂
@motie2 Oh joy, I can't wait to see the things my son has planned for me in the future. My only solace is that many of my hobbies and personality traits will annoy or embarrass him. I'm working on building my pun repertoire.
@Zouave Grad school already did a number on me for turning my hair grey. At this rate, my hair will be completely salt and pepper before the lad reaches ten years old.
@motie2 I concur. Been seeing a top-notch urologist for 12 years now. I've had all kinds of tests run over those years and Every time they come up with the same diagnosis: no cancer, just an easily inflamed and enlarged prostate. I've been taking 1 small capsule a day (no increase in dosage) for at least 10 years to ensure easy flow, but I still get up 2, sometimes 3 times a night. As we know, growing old is not for sissies...😴
@Zouave You should own that comment. I tell people all the time that I didn't go gray until our two daughters hit their teen years. Now I lost the gray and have gone completely white and blame that on the grandkids. (The grandkids aren't bad but they needed Santa.)
@motie2 We are surviving. No damage to the house. Didn’t lose power until after the eye of the hurricane passed over us. Have my generator running for our refrigerator. Very weak internet and phone service. A strong cold front move in behind the hurricane. It’s 59 degrees at the moment.
@PappyJoe Cold front @ 59 degrees.....heck, that's a heatwave here Which, if the forecast is correct we are going to have in the next few days, maybe even into the 60's..whoo-hoo!

Buckle up, Piper!

Even after two surgeries, and months on catheters in 2018, I still get up five times a night.
Don’t wait for a crisis. If micturation stops you die.

We all pray that Zeta won’t affect you and yours when it makes landfall in a couple of hours
Good news. Thanks for the update.
starting to get worse now. Power has started flickering
ok then: resuming concerned attitude
@jfreedy Unbelievably proud. I'm on pins and needles for when his brain develops more, and he starts smiling on his own.
@PappyJoe Prayers sent to your area. I have a friend on twitter in the area, and his home was hit hard. Stay safe.

Just take care of yourself and those you care for......

Unless you were up in the Pensacola area.
I do remember years where Florida was a hurricane magnet though.
