I purchased two
beautiful reworked pipes from KA9FFJ a couple of weeks ago and received an email from @KA9FFJ that he was concerned as to why I hadn't corresponded or logged on TPL for several days. Starting the last week of January, I had a bit of a distraction and hadn't been able to communicate. Without going through
all the details, I had bypass surgery on 2/1. The main artery in my heart
aka widow maker, was 90% blocked. By the
grace of God and my primary physician, it was caught before a heart attack and
therefore no heart damage. When I got the test results, I was actually blowing several inches of snow off my driveway. It was slow going due to the chest pains, which I mistook for heartburn. I underwent the surgery and was released to go home
2/5.
Aside from
being sore and easily tired, I feel fine. Writing this is a struggle, due to to lack of mental sharpness or the medications and lots of typing mistakes. KA9FFJ suggested I let everyone know what is going on. I agreed and so here you have it. I'll have to live with a lot of
restrictions for three months or so. I feel
a little stronger every day. I am a truly blessed man. I probably will lay-off smoking for a few months, until I
heal up.
I will log on now and then, just not as frequent. Just know I'm OK
@opipeman Very glad to hear you are ok. Don’t be a stranger just because you can’t/shouldn’t/decided not to, partake of the pipe. We are a small enough group already🙂
@opipeman Glad you got through it well. A few years back I had chest congestion and breathing problems that lead to a quadruple bypass, they had planned for 6 but sropped at four. When I finally got discharged I had my wife bring a pipe and tobacco for the ride home! You'll get stronger every day and find a new normal. I had trouble with the meds and worked with my docs to reduce/eliminate them. Keep positive and it will all work out.
@opipeman Sorry to hear of your recent issue, but very glad o hear you are on the mend here. I will add you to my prayer list. Look on your issue as a new lease on life......stay healthy and stay positive.
Brothers; Thank you all for your concern and your prayers. @motie2 thank you for your prayer. If TPL ever decides it needs a Chaplain, you have my vote!
@opipeman I’m sorry to hear about your troubles, but glad to hear you’re on the mend. Take the time you need to rest and heal up. We’re just thankful everything went okay.
@Londy3; Sorry, I didn't know! Thank you brothers & sisters for all your well wishes. Update on my recovery, this is the best I have felt for a week! Stopped taking the pain pills last night and finally had a great sleep. I'm thinking you can all stop worrying about me.
Why? Like a parent worries over one’s children, I constantly worry about the welfare of my friends, some of whom are not open concerninhg personal matters. Sure, many, it’s all they can talk about. But I worry mainly about the closed off ones.
@motie2 I'm concerned that they ask questions but then don't provide an answer that is neither agree or disagree. This prevents no "wiggle" room on some of the questions such as the one on capital punishment. I personally feel that there are cases where the death penalty is appropriate like in the case of a serial killer who has proven he can't be rehabilitated. In many states a life sentence does not mean "in prison until dead" for example. Murderers have been released from prison and then kill again.
I entirely agree; I couldn’t decide agree or disagree on more than a few. You know: it depends on this, it depends on that. Nevertheless, I could not argue with my results.
Beats hell out of arguing religion or politics...... interesting fun....
Just in passing, has anyone else noticed that the search function on This Pipe Life is utterly wretched? There is a folder titled “PIPE CLEANER COMING OUT RED?” Cannot be found..... Yet, when I went looking, I found it in the low 30’s.

He has always been the Chaplin.

Kinda cool chart, it’s like the quiz you can take to find your D&D alignment. Yep, I’m a “gamer”, but I don’t mix fantasy with real life.

Anyway, my results:

An ambulance just took our 41 year old to the hospital from work; suddenly unable to breathe.
Waiting to hear........
