@opipeman You're right, mine gets hot too but it usually doesn't bother me because I clench so much. To be honest, in my opinion, the hotter a bowl gets, it seems to stay lit better...or maybe that's my imagination, LOL.
Another goodwill find. I can definitely add this to the pipes I didn't need, but couldn't pass up list. Was unsmoked and still in the original box. All it needs is a touch of clean up and it will be good to go.
Looks like an old bong my mom found in my room and smashed in the back yard while laughing hysterically and chanting “you’re not going to smoke that shit under my roof!”
@Zouave Yes, the cap gets hot as hell. I was told by an older than me gentleman from Austria that those are supposed to be windcaps but unless it was windy most other pipe smokers he knew left the caps up.
With the exception of two or three stone pipes one of my sisters bought for me that are supposed to be Native American, I have smoked every pipe I own at least once or twice.
When I start my "Smoking the Rotation" adventure tomorrow, I have decided to start with the three I have.
I've had these for years. The large one My daughter brought back from Germany when see was stationed there in the 90's. The smaller one I purchased long before that at and Antique Mall. I've never smoked either one. I put them in a shadow box and hung them on the bedroom wall for display. The amazing thing is that my bride thought it was a good idea. What a woman!!
@vtgrad2003 that's a classic looking pipe. I like the look of it. Have you seen the Peterson Carroll of Carrollton pipes? I really like the look of them.
Those are really nice! No, I haven't seen those. How long are they (typically), are they clenchers? I have to have a clencher because I do so much work around the house and yard, fishing, etc., so I always clench my pipes.
@vtgrad2003 I'm not sure what the length is, but the bowl looks light enough that it wouldn't be a problem. I love the color of the bottom one in that line up.
@motie2 That Ser Jacopo has a silver inlay in the rim.
I was looking at those brew pipes about a year ago, just because it’s another way to brew coffee that I don’t have and…well, I like pipes😉. They are just a bit expensive for a “quickie” coffee. Also, they were not in stock anywhere I looked at the time.
@Zouave, @vtgrad2003 Those Carroll of Carrollton were a very limited run. They are tiny pipes, and they were like $150-$200 if I remember correctly. I have a few Peterson’s, and I would have added one expect for those two reasons…mainly the cost.
@Zouave Also, the light colored natural finished ones were even more rare, I think they made ten or less. That is the finish (on all Peterson’s with it) I really like too. Only the best grained, no fills briar are used for that finish.

Mine doesn't say no, she just rolls her eyes and slowly shakes her head. I really married up!

I have a couple similar to that.

You are a stronger willed man than I.
I would have smoked them at least once before putting them on display.
Actually, it never occurred to me. They just aren't that appealing to me as smokers.
