I love that pipe and other strange pipes, I appreciated the time, effort, creativity, and skill that it takes to make those types of pipes. They are artistic sculptures that happen to be able to permit the imbibing of tobacco smoke, if one cared to. Is there really a “use” for them, probably not except for displaying. It is not something I would purchase, but I can see the why, “because they can”. There are a lot of art pipes that do not impress me as much, such as the “steam punk” style where they just start hanging on or wrapping “junk” around a basic pipe. To each his own, but I still appreciate the diversity of pipes.
@motie2 I think he's trying to hide his pipe smoking from SWMBO through the chameleon technique... I have to assume a cell phone design is in the near future...
The Mangia Fuoco series from Ser Jacopo features wind caps connected to the shank by a sterling silver chain, making for a neat piece that can be used in any type of weather. This Cherrywood is a comfortable way to present the style, with its broad base allowing it to sit sturdily. Dressed in the Italian workshop's Spongia rustication, except for the smooth, polished cap and heel, this piece is full of all kinds of enchanting elements.
And only $488, it also doubles as a salt shaker in a pinch, and when you enlarge it 320 times and add the optional glass dome, you have your very own light house.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the art and craftsmanship, its just not my cup of tea, oh three's another potential use for it.
