I was thinking meer at first, but I think I seem some actual semblance of grain at the shank detail and some wood tear-out in the beard and hair. Maybe 3D 3-axis CNC router? It could also be 3D printed with the “wood” printing medium?
Where did you find it @motie2, inquiring minds want to know🙂
One of my sisters found this interesting pipe in an antique shop. Unfortunately, the shop owner was removing the $24.99 price tag because someone he knows told him it was worth way more than $25. My sister sent my the photos and asked me to call the owner. I'm not an antique dealer. I'm not an antique pipe collector (though I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express). But, I do have an interest in old meerschaums and estate pipes. I looked through two of Ben Rapaports' antique pipe books and I think it dates back as far as 1850. Has anyone seen one like this? Also, can anyone identify the language on the cap.
The world of antique pipes is a fascinating place full of surprising materials, shapes, styles, sizes and configurations and, depending on where the pipes were produced, can be encountered in a broad range of embellishments and accents in precious and semi-precious stones, silver and gold filigree, amber, ivory, horn, bone, and tortoiseshell. https://tobaccopipeartistory.blogspot.com/
Well, thoughts spun-off from some topic somewhere resulted in me visiting the Dixie Gun Works website recently.
The result is in today's delivery by the USPS of something I will probably not smoke all that often. But I do remember wanting one of these years back as well.
And best of all, it is currently on sale. I don't recall for how much longer, though. They also have several all-steel piipe-tomohawks.
It's true ... I love the strange ones. If those carved pipes were not so expensive I'd be walking around town puffing on a dinosaur head pipe. Can you imagine the stares I'd get. Just smoking a regular pipe seems to attract attention these days ... but to have a Triceratops dangling from your mouth would be 'the cat's ass'.

An honest answer would be, “Down the (internet) rabbit hole.”

All you need is alpascia.com and a lot of money
