@brandaves; Welcome! Hope you will enjoy the discussions and exchange of knowledge with the Brother on TPL. As far as your photo question, I'm sorry to say it has been so long that I don't remember. Someone will, however.
Thanks @opipeman, wanted to share a picture of the Stanwell 75 I've just restored; enjoy. Hope to connect w. some people who are both new and "old" to the hobby.
Welcome aboard! Hope you have fun on here...we're a small but tight group of smokers. Not as much "action" as other sites, but we're also much freer to say what we want to as long as we respect others' opinions and don't easily get offended--i.e., less (some would say, no) moderation on this site than others.
That said, regarding your question on the avatar, I'm going to walk you through the long way but it's still easy:
Across the top where you see "education culture community" and crap, put cursor on "community" Click on "the pipeline" Over on the far left under your current avatar you'll see a planet/world, click on it The first link is "notification preferences", click on that On the left in about the middle you'll see "change my picture"
Should be obvious from there...and if it doesn't work, blame @opipeman🤣
Not new, but had been a few years since I've posted or logged in. Life will do that to ya. Also was on a cigar kick for some years. Just picked my pipes back up. I missed it.
@BlueCollarBastard; Glad you are back. That's the thing about pipes, they are always there when you need them or to welcome you back. They are like a faithful old dog except they can't wag their tails.
Hi everyone I've been on here for awhile but never introduced myself. I'm new to the pipe smoking world but have learned a lot from reading all of your discussions.
@jasondsanders99; Welcome. If you have been reading our posts, then you know which of us know what their talking about and which of us (like meself) are bull shi*ers. Jump in and share your opinions, this group is comprised of some real quality people. In this day and age this is a rare thing, it doesn't cost anything.
Good morning! My name Is Jacob and I am from Kennesaw Georgia. I am a brand new pipe smoker, a little more than a month old. I started with cigars and quickly found out they are far to expensive to smoke on a regular basis so I picked up a MM Legend and 1oz of Lane Verry Cherry and 1oz of Super Value Vanilla from pipesandcigars.com. I have enjoyed the learning curve immensely. Probably more than the smoking itself. That may change when I finish off the cheap stuff and move on to the high quality tobacco but we will see. Anyway, I look forward to learning more about the art of pipe smoking from yall.
@jacobramsey74, saw your posting, unfortunately I'm over by Gainesville or I'd come by for a pipe. The local brick and mortar store here is "Smitty's", and they are a nice bunch of folks. Serve cold craft beer there as well, so I could definitely get lost there if I wanted to. Anyway, if you ever come out this way, let me know maybe I could meet you at Smitty's.
@jacobramsey74; Welcome to TPL. There are some quality folks here and are always happy to assist anyone within our hobby. No body will look down on you for asking questions or expressing your opinion. Wade on in!
@jacobramsey74 Welcome aspiring Brother of the Briar. Wow! You said “I am a brand new pipe smoker, a little more than a month old”. I guess I started really, really, late at 48😬 (about 10 years ago). Wow, it’s been that long ago….seems like yesterday🤔. I will say, I too have enjoyed the learning curve of pipes. I have met a bunch of great guys here on TPL and learned helpful information gleaned from their years of experience. I would like to meet them all in person. Enjoy the camaraderie, knowledge, personalities/characters and “back-and-forth”. Above all, don’t take any “ribbing” too personally. There might be a smart-ass/(dumb-ass) or two here about (P.S. I might be one of them). Welcome Friends.
@mfresa Thank you. If I ever come by I will definitely let you know. I have a cigar bar within walking distance of my place, but they don't sell pipes or pipe tobacco. My favorite brick and mortar I have visited is Old Havana in Cartersville. They carry pipe tobacco and don't charge a "cutting fee" if you bring your own. However, I always buy a few things while I am there out of respect!

One question 🤔 how do I change my avatar photo???
Thanks!

I will assume full responsibility. I'm not very tall, but I have broad shoulders.
@vtgrad2003
That did the trick! Thank you much. I was on my phone and had to turn it sideways to see the section you mentioned.
Appreciate the help!
Welcome.

Welcome Friends.
I'm not familiar with the geography of Georgia. I've driven through it going north to south once and I've flown into Atlanta a time or two.
Where are you in relation to Rome, GA?
We just had a member of the New Orleans Pipe Club move there and he's looking for other pipe smokers.
I am about an hour south of Rome. I used to visit the tobacco store there when I was in college.
