Hi all. Just joined last night. Started smoking a pipe some years back off and on. Last fall the PAD and TAD hit me for some reason and now there is rarely An evening when I don’t enjoy a pipe. Good to be here.
Introducing myself, name is Tom from Fredericksburg Virginia. New to the forum but have been smoking a pipe for about a year and a half. Have a few pipes and a small tobacco collection. Need to poke around and learn some more about pipe smoking
I was a Minesweep Sailor.....too many years ago. Now they are referred to as "Mine Countermeasures" Ships. Welcome aboard, this IS the place to be as a,Pipe Smoking Enthusiast. We have several Veterans who are active, and no clue as to how many participants just have not identified themselves as being a Veteran. I have to admit I have not been very active in the last two years due to illness issues, and I do miss it. So help show the group that the Navy is the best (up for discussion of course). Merry and Blessed Christmas and a Happy and a Healthy New Year to you, and to all who read this.
My father, of blessed memory, joined the Navy to get out of the orphanage in 1917. He said he fought “The Battle Of the Great Lakes” during WWI. He always regretted never seeing Europe…..
@Subsailor731; Glad you joined our Brotherhood. Look back through the old discussions and you'll find a lot of good information. I'm new to pipe smoking myself. I'll be 78 in March and started smoking a pipe in about 1965 or so. I made all the mistakes but stuck it out. I wish this forum was available back then. When I say I'm new to pipe smoking, I really mean to say I'm still learning. Merry Christmas.
Here goes, returning to pipe smoking after a 6-ish year break. I live in Red Rock, AZ. I kept all of my pipes when I stopped smoking them, so I've got the pipe cave all set up again. My tobacco was either thrown out at some point or dried out beyond repair so working on building stock back up. I'm not super into building a cellar, but I do like to keep a good rotation of tobaccos handy. Glad to be here and looking forward to joining in the the shenanigans.
Welcome, sir! We look forward to your participation and contributions to our discussions. If you have any questions, just ask; we’re a (mostly) friendly and welcoming group.
Hello, I am in Phoenix, AZ. I’m 68, retired, and have been a pipe smoker for 40 years. I was home visiting my parents, and saw our next door neighbor who was a pipe smoker. During our chat I told him I remembered the aroma of his pipe. He offered me a pipe, pouch, tamper, and some Borkum Riff Cherry. He taught me how to load and smoke a pipe. And to this day, I find smoking a pipe relaxing and a nice way to stop and enjoy life!

Welcome. Word of advice, avoid the political discussion pinned to the top.
Welcome to the brotherhood.
'Avoid the political discussion' LOL ! Reminds me of Monty Python when they would all run away from the killer rabbit.
