@motie2, your welcome, wanted to let you know I tried Burma Road, sorry to say I didn’t get all the various tastes that you described. The first thing that stood out was the sort of peppered taste. Really not a bad blend, I’m going to give it another try and see what happens.
Well, we are hoping to dodge the worse of two - not one, but two - hurricanes aiming for Louisiana over the next three or four days. Still waiting for the National Hurricane Center to decide where the storms are going to hit land and how bad they are going to be.
Best of luck @PappyJoe. Living in FLA, I definitely know the stress that comes with the uncertainty of these storms.The weather men drive me nuts during these storms. Any way I hope you and yours are safe.
@buflosab Thanks. Being raised in Louisiana and Texas and then spending six years of my Coast Guard career in New Orleans (and 3.5 years in Miami) I learned a lot about hurricanes. I also learned not to trust The Weather Channel or local news as much as I trust the National Hurricane Center. The NHC gives you the same information it gives the Weather Channel and local news. You just get it without someone else's interpretation.

@PappyJoe, I know exactly what you mean, these local weather people want you to stay tuned, and keep you on edge, it sort of like it’s their time to shine. I suppose they are providing somewhat of a service, but I won’t sit hour after hour and listen to them.
Still here and kicking. The first hurricane fizzled out to a depression before it hit the coast of Louisiana. The second storm is on a path towards the Texas/Louisiana border and is currently predicted to be a category two hurricane when it makes landfall close to Lake Charles, Louisiana.
I expect to see some rain as it passes but not much else (unless it decides to make a drastic turn). On the other hand, one of our sons lives about 60 miles due north of Lake Charles and will get tropical storm force winds and rain. My three sisters and their families live near Beaumont, Texas and are only about 45 miles west of Lake Charles. They are going to be in one of the hard hit areas as they are between the Sabine and Neches Rivers.
On Saturday, my wife and I adopted a new fuzzy member into our family. Meet Finn, an 8 year old Yorkie/poodle that was living in the streets as a stray when he was found and rescued 3 weeks ago. He was in rough shape, but obviously had lived with people before. He’s super sweet and even my cat is growing to like him.
@PappyJoe Sounds like that Hurricane is brewing into something catastrophic category 4. I heard the Governor say that in the mandatory evacuation area the storm surge will be unsurvivable. Estimates of a 20 foot storm surge. If you live anywhere near there ... get the Hell out. I'll never understand the people who insist on riding out the storm ... then find themselves in precarious situations needing to be rescued, when they were warned from the beginning that to do so not only put themselves in danger but also the lives of people who now have to try and rescue them.
All I know is when I look up at my 8 foot ceiling and imagine the water level twice that high ... there is no way I want to be under than amount of water.
I might recommend putting the old Sr. Chief duds on and standing on your porch, ordering the hurricane to "stand down" if you are staying. I know in the Navy, NOBODY messed with Senior or Master Chiefs. Plain old E7's, not so much as they are only one step above a First Class Petty Officer and thus still had those "traits" so to speak and still just 'one of the guys". Good Luck down there.
