@motie2 I had been looking for this brand, and I think I had seen this on Smoking Pipes .com some time ago. Holy Smoke N Pipe Padre was smoking this and as i recall was very complimentory.
@motie2 I have Sillem’s “Green” and “Red”. I enjoy both, they are definitely fruity aromatics in the German Dan Tobacco style similar to “Devil’s Holiday”, “Exotic Orange/Passion”. The “Red” is berry and the “Green” is tropical.
@motie2 Hmm, interesting🤔. I am currently smoking some Planta Anno MMXV (2015) “Brazilian Mixture”. It has a lime flavor component. I have a couple lime tobaccos and I love them. I have not got a tin of the Sillem’s Blue yet, but it is on my list. I did not pick it first because I am not a big fan of maple.
Well, you guys know me, always fiddling around with pipes. Decided to change the looks of one of my MMs. Doing some Sutliff County Cork in recently stained and buffed MM. I really do like this SS provided tin...
Smoking some Sutliff “South Seas” in my Savinelli Silver Spigot #642. I have not figured out the flavors in this blend..it says cocco (coconut?), mango, pineapple. It is fruity, but it seems to have some kind of tree nut nuttiness and a little smoky? Strange tobacco, it does not seem anything like the description. It’s still ok, just not what I expected by the description. The ash it leaves is weird too..leaves some little brown/tan ash...looks like coconut fiber?? Shredded cardboard?? Like I said...strange. I took a picture of that weird ash for you guys. Anybody ever seen ash like this in other tobaccos? By the way, I bought the pipe as an estate.....a previous owner torched the rim. It was too deep to sand out/top, so.....it adds character.
Getting ready to enjoy some Sutliff Creme Brulee in a VERY lightweight M.P.F. A very good blend in an excellent smoker... By the way @motie2 you'll notice the lighter being used? You turned me on to this Linse (basically a bic with directional flame) quite a while back. They are great pipe lighters and the price is right... Tnx for sharing...
After weeks of smoking SPC Wildman and Plum Pudding I decided to swap things up this morning and brought Eastfarthing and Trout Stream with me to work. Started this morning with Eastfarthing…. Forgot how delicious it is!
After @motie2 was asking about Sillem’s tobacco, I thought I would fire up a few bowls. I’m starting with the green in my Sillem’s #444. I really wish I could figure out what company made this pipe for Sillem’s? I do not think it is a Peterson or a Savinelli, although both companies have made pipes for Sillem’s. It is drilled with a well and for a 9mm filter. Presently, I am smoking it with an adapter, no filter. I think maybe Vauen or BigBen made it, but I have not seen any reference to them or any pipes that have the exact shape.
Happy New Years everyone! Kicking off the new decade with C&D's Morley's Best in my Country Gentleman cob, with a shot of Apple Pie Moonshine. Hope it's a good one for all of you!
Put LINSE LIGHTERS into eBay.com or Amazon.com. They are cheap, especially in small quantities, and reliable. Losing one is like losing a BIC; losing a Corona Old Boy is a tragedy.....
Note that the various stupid labels peel cleanly off -- with patience -- leaving a nice black lighter.
Today, I enjoyed a bowl of Sillem's Blau (Blue) in a cob. Weather was a tolerable 40 degrees, so I followed that up with a bowl of Peterson's Luxury Blend, 50/50 with Out of the Office/Civic Duty. If the weather holds, maybe a bowl of Eastfarthing mixed with Panna Cotta.
I'll go a week without a pipe, and then I'll go for three in one day.... especially during the winter. The exhaust window fan thing is ok, but outdoors on the rear deck is better....
@mfresa It looks good, but it does not smoke worth a dang🙁. It smokes wet and won’t stay lit...even with dry tobacco. Both of the Sillem’s tobaccos were more dry from the tin/jar than lots of my other aromatics but since I had lots of time I dried them for at least 30 minutes...the pipe still smoked wet and would not stay lit..even the top of the bowl😖. I think I need to ream out the nasty bowl coating, it must be that darn “waterglass”...I hate that stuff. I might try to smoke it without the 9mm adapter to see if that works? If all else fails I will try a filter carbon or balsa?
Great weather day for January 1. Starting to take down outside Christmas decorations while doing some Sutliff County Cork in a MM Cob... Thanks again Secret Santa...

I'm finding myself grabbing my MM pipes more often when smoking Balkan blends. They just seem to bring out the flavors better than briar, IMHO.

Yep, the Linse is great, especially for those, like me, who are afraid to take our Corona Old Boy out of the house, for fear of losing it.
Those two blends, right there, reveal the excellence of Sutliff aromatics.
I’ve been looking through lots of pictures of Vauen pipes at Vauen and SmokingPipes.com. I about 90% sure this Sillem’s pipe was made by Vauen.

How was the Sillem’s “Blue”?
Are those Linse lighters refillable?
