Opened a pouch of Capt Black Gold this morning....I'm trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, but so far it isn't doing much for me. IMHO, there just isn't a lot there one way or the other. It may end up meeting the blending jar.
Try some Captain Black Original (White).................it has been confirmed as Lane RLP6, but apparently the addition of a humectant (?) gives it a slightly different taste. I believe it to be as good or better than most other tobaccos sold in the pouch.....just my humble opinion.
@pwkarch, I'm actually ordering either a can of CB Original (OR a bag of RLP-6 today) as I'd found that to be a very appealing all day tobacco. I happened to have a pouch of the Gold and figured I'd go ahead and try it. Like I said....meh.
Agreed....the gold does nothing for me as well, although I did smoke it regulaly years ago. I ordered 2 pounds of the 1Q years ago as that was supposed to be the bulk version of the gold.....the jars still sit in my cellar not opened since their arrival.
Looking at the two side by side, the 1Q has a bit of black cavendish that the Gold lacks....but usually, I've taken even the 1Q and mixed it 50/50 with BCA and like that much better. But I do like the CB Original quite a bit just as it is.
Starting to close my day on the porch watching a thunderstorm pass by in the distance. Decided to enjoy a bowl of Sutliff Sunset Rum in a Shayne freehand...
ah the best part of the warmer months, to grab a little something to sip while sitting back on the patio and smoking something you really like. In this case it's a bowl of comoys cask 11 in a churchwarden and reading a Cussler book. Only problem was last night I sat too still for too long and a skunk nearly ran across my feet. Thankfully I did not startle
Smoking a bowl of Edward G Robinson Blend in my Bamboo Cicatrice Pipe made by South African pipe maker Jean du Tiot under his Jan Pietenpaum moniker. The pipe was gifted to me by our good friend Dutch, who remains missing in action.
The last of my test ounce of Peretti Boston Slices in my Sav Tre author. This is definitely a winner for fans of golden Virginias. I will be buying more,
