@PappyJoe -- Neither am I. However, I find their pipes interesting and their prices competitive. Anyway, a little research turned up this:
HS Studio -- "HUGE STONE" is a Hong Kong-based art investment and collection company working with pipe artists and craftsmen from Europe and China, offering [mostly] factory tooled and cut pipes in popular sizes and shapes. They do not appear to be crap.
There are two series offered by HS Studio:
The ”Classic" series, inscribed as "HS STUDIO / ROAD TOWN”
These are largely traditional shaped pipes
The ”FREEHAND” series, inscribed as "HS STUDIO / HAND MADE"
@PappyJoe and @motie2 I have three H.S. Studio pipes which I've posted pictures of before. They tend to be unusual and somewhat intricately carved ... at least the three I have. All smoke well and look great to someone with an eye like mine. But I'm sure the traditionalist might have an altogether different opinion of them. I'll post the pictures of the three I own once again.
Has anyone purchased a Mario Grandi pipe from eBay? Even with the shipping from Italy, they look like decent pipes for the price. Any feedback or information would be appreciated.
Here's one you don't see every day. A Peter Stokkebye double bowl stereo pipe. Adjustable settings to smoke either the right bowl, the left bowl or you can combine both bowls. One recently sold on Smokingpipes for $900. Original retail of $2200.
@Kmhartle, I bought a Mario Grande from eBay last year, I paid $16.50 free shipping, nobody else bid on it so I got it, it was an estate from a U.S. seller, It is now my favorite pipe!
@motie2 I just came across that picture of the ALIEN looking pipe today. I don't know how I missed it when you originally posted it. I would have joined in on the bidding war. It ultimately sold for $89.00.
A one off Special. Fully functional but would prefer to sell it as display piece or a prop piece for a production. The curve in a Churchwarden spirals the smoke against the wood to cool it, so with this pipe it has to travel sixteen and a half inches around three curves before it arrives at the mouthpiece. Although like i say i'd prefer this one in a collection. An Irish Handmade Long wooden smoking pipe in the Churchwarden style made famous by Gandalf, Bilbo, Lord of the Rings the Hobbit and Sherlock Holmes. The gauze may be replaced or removed leaving a regular pipe bowl.
Lifetime Guarantee! 12 Inches long (16.5" Airway) Gauze pipe with extra pack of Gauzes
They say clay pipes have the purest smoke because of no burning wood inside the bowl! While wooden pipes have the smoothest smoke because wood absorbs heat the best. I have combined a clay bowl pipe for purity of smoke and a long flowing 'curved stem which removes the heat by allowing the smoke to spiral upwards along the wood.>>
