Smoking some RLP-6 this evening. It’s been awhile since I put fire to this blend….yep, still very tasty👍🏻. I have it loaded in my black Savinelli 2000. I brewed up a mug of hot green tea to pair.
I finished helping a co-worker replace the front brakes on his ‘99’ Chevy this afternoon and I am sitting down to an after dinner smoke. I have Lane “Drew Estates-Grand Central” loaded in a Lane Crown Achievement 480, an oval shanked Dublin-Lumberman. Not really looking forward to tomorrow….replacing the rear brakes on said pickup. We had a few issues with the front and it took much longer than it should have. We had a couple of stubborn bolts, then the “snapper”, the auto parts store gave him incorrect brake pads. When returning the incorrect front pads, they say they got the rear pads and rotors correct…..we shall see.
Just returned from visiting my brother-in-law in a memory care facility. His wife, my sister, passed away some time ago and he is now in a very nice and safe place. Now I'm doing some Chacom St Claude in a Comoy "The French Pipe" #6 I acquired while visiting several places in France last year...
Well, we finally finished my buddy’s truck. Good news, the rotors and pads were correct. The bad news, the dang wheels were stuck on the hubs, the center hole of aluminum wheels have a pretty tight tolerance to the center of the hub/rotor. The corrosion between the aluminum wheel and the steel rotors-stuck’em good. We had to beat on the tire sidewall to get them knocked free. Then the four caliper bracket bolts were seized as well. We used a big electric impact, not enough😖. PB Blaster and impact-no soap😖. PB Blaster, heat from a butane torch and the impact…whew they finally broke free👍🏻. Then….the damn rotors were corrosion welded to the hubs as well. A liberal application of PB Blaster, some heat, and we beat the hell out of them with two sledge hammers from different sides, they finally broke free. In the interim, I had a few smoke breaks to contemplate my decision to help🤔. All is well that ends well👍🏻. My pipe today is my own RMB Liverpool loaded with some C&D “Espresso”. My choice of beverage, seltzer on the rocks.
Normally I buy new blends and after trying a bowl or two, I will pack them away in the cellar until later. Lately I've been reaching for two new blends: Kopp Flame 1919, an unflavored blend and Kopp Anchor Ahoy!, a blend flavored with the fruit of the Baobab tree. Those two blends have been scratching a pipe smoking itch I didn't know I had.
Smoking some Mac Baren “Uncut Navy Flake Plug” from 2021 in an old WDC Royal Demuth with Sterling accoutrements this evening. I have a Bourbon & Soda with a touch of lime to pair….well, it’s down to half a Bourbon Soda already😉
Managed to get in 9 holes before the rain started. At home now enjoying some John Dengler (a local B&M in St Charles, Mo) Pirate's Chest in a HS Studio handmade...
@PappyJoe; Good looking pipe. We have had temps in the 40-50 degree range for several weeks. I'm not going to say that living in Iowa is an advantage given that I will be cold until maybe next May or June.
Well, it has got to freezing overnight a couple of days, not in a row though👍🏻. It seems, winter is coming. There has been small snow piles on the roads early in the morning that fall from semi’s, when they hit bumps like railroad crossings. The snow hasn’t quit dipped down to my neck of the woods. Ha, “neck of the woods”…more like “wide open prairie” (not like Nebraska though, man that place is flat).
I hate putting up my outdoor Christmas lights! I used to be able to make a day of it and have it all done. Now I have to do it in three, 4 hour shifts! I really enjoy them once their up, but the process is becoming more tedious as the years roll by. And another thing, how in the world does a stran of Christmas lights go bad just sitting in a box for 10 months!? Anyway, phase one completed and now enjoying some well deserved C&D Autumn Evening in a Savinelli Estella 9904...

That spigot X220 is on my list... right?
If it wasn’t before, it is now😬
Your motto HAS to be, "...so many pipes, so little time".
Beautiful pipe brother...

Sounds as if your bowl of C&D Expresso was well deserved...

I also wanted to give you an "awesome" but your last line was too funny...😁

Looking good brother 🎅
I only have 2 or 3 Christmas blends (nothing special), so I think I'll save them until after Thanksgiving...

That’s a nice pipe👍🏻
A nice pic too, you caught the smoke just perfect🙂
A much nicer day there than here. It’s been chilly here with some rain mixed with snow.
No snow sticking ….yet…..it’s getting close.🫣
