@KA9FFJ no telling how long dr. Stewart had it in his humidor brother he gave me a box of pre imbargo bolivars about 9yrs ago still have 2 of those left
Well, they say too much of a good thing is still too much, so I'm taking a break from my Christmas theme and enjoying some Lane BCA in a reworked and restemmed noname... Note: There is a hint of red (oxblood) on the stummel. So I guess one could say I'm still trying...😄
Well, there's a lot to be said for PAD. I mean, except for 2 days, I've been smoking that Santa meer EVERY day this month! I had an old Irwin's bent with no stem, so I decided to make another Christmas pipe. Now I'm getting some SPU (Same Pipe Use) relief by using this reworked and restemmed Irwin's with some Sutliff Christmas Spice...
Making myself rather scarce on the "what are you smoking right now" thread. Reason? Tha last 3 days have been my Santa meer and I felt no sense boring you guys. Day before yesterday... Christmas Spice Yesterday... LL-7 Today... Tinderbox Honey Maple See, now I'm caught up and you didn't have to look at the same old pipe with the same old mug...
In deference to not wanting to smell like pipe smoke while visiting children, I have only had maybe two pipes so far in December. Since I am off from Santa duty today and tomorrow, I have a pipe loaded with Kohlhase & Kopp Winter Time 2021 for this afternoon.
Only six more days before it is Christmas morning. Hope you guys are having a good holiday season.
Picked up my son and daughter-in-law from the airport earlier today. They're here for the week. Her family is also from here so they're off to visit her side of the family this afternoon/evening. While they're away, I'm having some C&D Jolly Old St. Nicholas in a reworked noname. I know it's not my Santa meer, but at least it has a red stem...
Decided to break out another “Les Bouchons” by Tobac de la Semois. It’s stuffed in an old WDC “Smokarol” which works perfectly for these “The Corks”👍🏻. I have a cuppa java to pair. I wish I could find a vintage tube of “Velvet” “Smokarol” pipe tobacco cartridges for these pipes. I’m a bit sad today, I can’t find my favorite pipe tamper😢. My “Handy Andy” pipe tool is gone😭 I fear it may have been thrown in the trash accidentally. It’s weird though, I distinctly remember removing it from my ash tray and setting it on my table before I took the ashtray to the garbage. Of course, it was garbage day, so I couldn’t even look through my trash. I keep hoping I absent mindedly “hid” it somewhere or maybe Felix “swiped” it and I’ll find it again. I really miss it, it was perfect. I may attempt to make one, but it won’t be the same. I have found that it’s a very rare pipe tool. I’ve only seen one other on EBay, but it had a serrated edge on the spoon and holes in the “handle?” which I am not a fan of either.
These “Les Bouchons” are meant to be smoked pretty dry, but a I think these may need to visit my cigar humidor for awhile. It’s burning like it’s in a race. I will say, it’s not burning hot though.
A few days late in posting.... We had a small New Orleans Pipe Club meeting on Dec. 19th. December is usually a small meeting because of the holidays and people are busy with shopping and/or family. I brought several different tins of Christmas or Winter blends including:
Jolly Old St. Nicholas Rattray's Winter Edition 2021 Kohlhase & Kopp Winter Edition 2019 and Christmas Tobacco by Dan Tobacco.
My oldest son was also at the meeting but had to leave early to meet up with his wife who was driving down from Tennessee.
Merry Christmas to all! I opened a jar of Autumn Evening which is several years old. While the flavor hasn't improved with age, the room note is nice. That's my Peterson Christmas 2017 408 in the photo. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Using some Lane LL-7, this is my last go with my Santa pipe for a while. You probably can't tell from the pic, but he has gone from a white face and beard to a "warmer" look. So like it or not, IMHO, the only way to add patina to a meer is to smoke it more... it's that simple...
Safely to the airport and back again. My son and daughter-in-law are now on their way back to Las Vegas after a week stay. More time now to enjoy one of my larger bowls, so I picked out my reworked and restemmed Celtic #861, alias my "ugly pipe " with some Tinderbox After Dinner...
