Put some chicken kabobs on the grill and needed a pipe for the occasion. Since we're talking about 15/20 min cook time, I broke out the old mini MM cob. The perfect 15+ minute pipe. Some BCA went perfectly with it...
I ended yesterday and started today with GLP Kensington in a bent MM Apple Diplomat. Now that it's sunny and warm I'm switching to Virginias and starting with GH DVC in an MM Rob Roy.
@KA9FFJ, you gave me inspiration🙂. I loaded this “micro” cob with some C&D “Espresso” to see how long it smokes. I should have loaded some SG “Black XX”, but I didn’t want to “corrupt” my house. I had to use a horseshoe nail tamper, my normal ones were too large. I’m somewhat surprised at how well it is smoking👍🏻. I’m getting myself psyched up to go out and mow my lawn…which is more like a pasture now, it’s so tall it could support a cow or two and it’s a small yard. It just keeps raining when I have the time to mow😖
Oops! The bottom was apparently really, really thin…my tamper went through the bottom😖 Oh well, I guess I should have “bottomed” it with pipe-mud like I have done with all of my other cobs. I thought the heel was too far below the airway anyway. I’ll just plug it with a briar plug….it’s a “carburetor” pipe now😬
After 18 this AM, and piddling a few small projects around the house, I'm finishing the day by watching the sun set with some Sunset Rum in a restemmed Calabrest on my screened in porch...
I ended yesterday with Zouave's favorite, GLP Westminster, in a bent MM Apple Diplomat. The overnight rain took care of watering the garden so I'm enjoying a cup of black coffee along with GH Balkan Mixture in a Peterson Rusticated System 301.
@Balisong On Saturday at our monthly pipe meeting one of my friends pulled out an unopened (and bulging) 10 year old tin of Westminster and opened it.
Up to this point unless it was really old, I have observed that most English blends improve but its usually subtle, not so in this case, its was remarkable.
I can only postulate that GLP choice of ingredients specifically the virginias really make a difference.
Trying some G.L. Pease “Bankside”…again. It’s got a touch of Latakia in it…I’m still on the fence. The Latakia is right at that breaking point. I think the sweetness from the Virginia’s and Perique and the dark fired “smoke” is cutting the Latakia. I am going to be able to smoke it, but I sure don’t want any more Latakia than this in anything I smoke. I trotted out a Brebbia Jubilee 1997 Calabash Pura to smoke it it. I’m kinda bummed out, I had a Brebbia frangifumo (smoke breaker) for Brebbia stems, but I’ll be damned if I can find it. I don’t think I ever got to try it🙁
@RockyMountainBriar: Beautiful pipe, Brother. May as well add that one to @KA9FFJ,s list. He may be on the greens and not seen this yet. I'll call it for him.

Do I have to ask?
The list, the list...
I really enjoy this little pipe since I restemmed and 2-tone stained it...
The first was The Mallard in my 2015 Ardor Venere.
The second bowl was the last of a tin of The Untouchables in my Maestro de Papa.
A man has a right to be irritable now and then. Oops, maybe its just old men.

The list gets longer...
