Loaded a Peterson Outdoor D6 with some 8+ year old SG “FireDance Flake”. There are two tins stuffed in the jar. One is only a year or so old (the light one) it has not aged as much. I loaded from the “dark side”🙂. Is is bad to smoke an “Outdoor” Pete indoors? I’m kinda bummed out too, my bottle of George T. Stagg Barrel Proof (141.8 proof) Kentucky Straight Bourbon (2008) is on it’s last legs😢. I looked for another replacement bottle recently, and found some vintages from several years ago, but newer than this one. They were priced at close to $1000 a bottle and higher…much higher😳. The 2008 vintage has a price tag of ~$2500😳. If this one had not been opened (and drunk up🙂) I would have sold it for a ~$2400 profit….it’s not that good.
@KA9FFJ: @RockyMountainBriar; Well Brothers, You've stirred up my pipe envy again. It's not nice to taught an old man. Maybe if you didn't have such impeccable tastes in pipes, I wouldn't mind so much?
@RockyMountainBriar So, did you do your 🔥firedance🔥? Did you post the video and did it go viral yet? 🤣 Interesting bourbon pick. Your right about the flavor. No bourbon is THAT good with that kind of price tag, I would have sold it. These kind of bourbons are not really made to drink. They are for collectors. Like you, I buy bourbon to drink. The most I'll pay is about $90.
As you can see, I…and some friends, have put a serious dent in this bottle over the years. It is the bourbon that I usually fill my “cigar flask” with. 140 proof gives more bang for the buck when sharing cigars and bourbon🙂. Perfect for a cigar and a shot with a friend. I think I might have paid $60-$80 for the bottle of bourbon back when I purchased it.
I have been busy as heck this evening. I was planning on a two pipe night, but I don’t think I will make it now🙁. Anyway, since it’s Halloween, I decided on the ‘2022’ Halloween Pete 306 loaded with something scary…well, at least to me, especially since I have not had dinner. I loaded up with the Samuel Gawith “Brown No.4” rope. So far so good, and tasty too. The tin I bought from a local B&M had been “popped” and it was dry as hell a year ago. I re-humidified over the last year or so and it and it is smoking great now. I think I have more of the rope “wrapper leaf” which, according to the description is the dark fired, the center leaves are the air-cured. It does have a slight dark fired taste, but not overwhelming at all. About half way through, it’s kinda musty, dank, and a little sweet….perfect for All Hallows’ Eve🙂
I hate squirrels! Sitting out on the back porch getting ready to dispatch my 4th one today. They are destructive little creatures and I HATE them messing up my back yard. Did I mention I hate squirrels? Anyway, using my Gammo .22 Whisper 10x (10 shot) break-barrel pellet rifle. Just mounted a new scope before I went into the hospital and didn't get a chance to sight it in. Took 3 shots at 35 yards! I'll post the target... In the meantime, I'm doing some Frankenblend in a GBD Midnight...
Trying to “catch up” on last night so I loaded the Baraccini “Jack” 320. The pipe is orange, very orange so fittingly, to me at least, I loaded it with Rattray’s “Exotic Orange”😬.
@KA9FFJ I wonder what tobacco would be “green”….maybe menthol😬, or mint? Is there a mint flavored tobacco? I would try a smooth mint topped tobacco. Maybe with Cream De’Menth? Nah, it’s too sharp. It’s more like peppermint😖
@RockyMountainBriar Been thinking about that. Since we're talking Christmas, I'm going to stick with my Christmas blends... for the most part. Besides, menthol/mint and I don't get along too well...😁
@Londy3 I’m sure it’s a Savinelli second 320. When smoking it, the bottom gets hot towards the bottom of the smoke. Also, this smoke started to “bring out the briar” more than usual in a new pipe, at least for me. I was not smoking particularly fast, just my normal cadence too. When I dumped the ash, I found out why this smoke “brought out the briar”….the area above the airway was charred….quite a bit. In fact, it has a 1/8” crack vertically above the airway and about 3/32” deep too😳. I used my drill bit and removed the charred area. Luckily, the 320 has a lot of “meat” in that area. I usually slightly shave off/round over the edge of the thin area just above the airway in my pipes. I may have forgot this one, or maybe it was another flaw that I missed? The first flaw I could see was that the bowl was drilled too deeply, the reason the bottom gets hot near the end of the bowl.

Decided to use one of my "Halloween" pipes to enjoy some Sunset Rum...

Oh, by the way, I need to wait for a full moon to do the “Firedance”….then there would be two full moons😂😂😂😂
By the time I see two moons, I wouldn't be able to dance to save me ass.
Just finished the candy thing ☠️

Sorry to hear about your sick little one... hope they're better soon...
By the way, great looking little pipe...
That's hilarious! No it was not the intent but next time I shall play that part! 😆
I know what you mean. They can be a pain. I have a little crossman pellet gun for the same reason. Good shooting that far away.
A fitting combo...🙂
Oh, in case you've forgotten, mine is green... very green😏

Very cool pipe even though it's so bright. Like the shape a lot too.

Oh wow. That's very interesting. So why do you drill the air way like that in all your pipes?
Hey Jim, looks like your smookin Jim 😜😆
