I’ve never had problems with Half & Half, even as a newbie, other tobaccos...yes. I seem to have less problems with burleys. I’ve have always been kinda backwards though.
There's only one thing better than celebrating a holiday, that's celebrating TWO! Using my reworked "Halloween" pipe to do some Sutliff Christmas Spice...
Pallidan Cherry in my Kaywoodie "Standard" briar pipe. The tobacco has been in a Mason Jar and was about 3 years old. That stuff was trying to bite my fingers as I was filling te bowl! I have always liked this blend despite its' reputation, but today was bad. Bad tongue and mouth bite, and little to no cherry detected. I was very dissapointed as I wanted to return to that experience from years ago. Oh well, sometimes their are dissapointments in life. I have apologized to my pipe.
@pwkarc I agree concerning the Pallidan Cherry. I have to be very careful with that blend and CONSTANTLY think "sip...sip...sip". There have been a couple of times when my tongue would send up a flag from just an initial bowl lighting! I wound up doing a 50/50 with BCA. It helped considerably IMHO...
Received some Boswell Peaches& Cream, also some Boswell Best Blend, and Cupcake. The Peaches and Cream- so, so, doesn’t compare to Sutliff Taste Of Summer which is the best Peach flavored blend I think.
My latest addition-Crown pipe, I know most of you have much nicer looking pipes, but for $33.00 I can’t pass it up. I’m sort of a miser when it comes to spending money on pipes, if I can get away with a new pipe for under $ 50.00 I’m on it. This is a pretty good smoker and a bit small, but I’m inclined to small to medium sized bowls. Had some Peaches&.Cream today. Just about been through all of Boswell Aromatic Blends, have narrowed down to about 6 or 7 that I liked.
I keep my costs even lower with MM Prides, Legends and Washingtons. Under $7.00 each, a replacement stem, and, some Dremel work to smooth out the stem seams. Oh forgot Morgans, great flake pipes with the longer slim unfiltered stem.
Had some Sunset Rum in an MM cob earlier this evening on the front porch while the Halloween kiddos came to our table on the sidewalk to pick up candy. Really enjoyed seeing all the costumes...
Smoking some Peter Stokkebye #303 “Peaches and Cream” in the Pete 2020 POY. No kiddo’s for Halloween this year. It’s a balmy 55 degrees and no snow too, nice weather for a Halloween evening in Billings. I have never had many Trick-or-Treaters though because I live on a dead end street...and, it seems nobody in this neighborhood leaves their lights on. There are no families with small children in my neighborhood anyway. Sad, Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays. Halloween just ain’t like it use to be for children🙁.
Relaxing this afternoon with some Gatlin-Burlier Rum and Maple in a beautifully made reworked noname bent. This is a very nice blend. Reminds me somewhat of RLP-6...
Just finished a bowl of Hearth and Home Egg Nog in my Savinelli Dolimiti Briar "Author". Over a year old in the Masaon Jar and very enjoyable. The second half was fantastic with unquestionable notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a liquor note present that I could not specifically identify. A very relaxing experience sitting on the porch watching and listening to the rain.
A 50/50 blend of Arrango Balkan Sobranie and Balkan Sasieni , I call it the hundred plus blend because if i didn't buy the tins on sale it would cost over $100 to make a pound. This is a case where 1+1 = 10, it is balkan nirvana in a Stanwell silk # 15

Sutliff Christmas Spice is one of my very favorites, I had a bowl just yesterday. Semper fi.

Glad to see you are AOK.

Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger. I’ve never paid more than thirty dollars, including shipping, for a pipe. Most are eBay used.
