First bowl today. sitting in the sun watching the birds, smoking Lane Hazelnut in a MM straight Mark Twain CC. Second bowl today a blend of Lane RLP-6 and BCA in a MM bent Mark Twain pipe. The Hazelnut had a little bite, but the wind was affecting my smoking. The second bowl was a little better with the wind not a factor. I have to say that the best part of both experiences was just being out in the sun and not working for a couple of hours.Makes me look forward to some spring weather and piping.
Did a 50/50 blend with Captain Black Gold and Sutliff Vanilla Custard. It was a nice enough smoke but I should have just gone with the vanilla Custard, that is a sweet creamy delight all by itself. I may have detracted from it by cutting it with Captian Black Gold. Smoked it in my Nording Harmony Bent Dublin ... that not only a beautiful pipe but a great smoker as well. Not a clencher because it's a bit on the heavy side ... but I tend to hold my pipes anyway.
motie2 She is a beauty ... it's a briar pipe. The day I got it in the mail it was so cold I assumed it was made of some stone like material. But I looked on at the stamping on the pipe as well as the catalog description and it's listed as briar.
@motie2 If you go directly to the Nording website you can find the Nording Harmony line of pipe there. I'll post a few pictures to save you some time. Being a musician you'll know which pipe really caught my eye. I believe each pipe is one of a kind so when they're gone - they're gone. My wife is the one who picked out mine and she found it at Smokingpipes.com. They did have some at Pipes And Cigars a while back but they all seem to be gone. And even Smokingpipes doesn't look like they have any in stock either. Well here are a few examples of the Harmony line ... some are better than others.
Just finished a bowl of Lane Black Raspberry in a MM Bent Mark Twain Cob. This was a 1 hour plus smoke on one light. The first half of the bowl had just a hint of bite. Nice taste, with the second half of the bowl the best. Newly opened bag so the tobac was very damp. A little drying next time with perhaps some BCA added, and I bet the little bite disappears.
