@pipeman83 Are you sure you don't have 2 rows of teeth!?... I mean, I'd probably wind up in "jaw therapy" after clenching that big boy very long. Seriously though, it's a good looking pipe. Bet it delivers a cool smoke...
Another dark & rainy afternoon in SE Louisiana. At least I got out long enough to get a new cap and a couple of shirts. Smoking some Acadian English in my Dunhill. Drinking some Knob Creek and water.
Yesterday was a day where I struggled to decide what to smoke because of the tobacco order of nine blends that I received. In the end, I opened a 50g tin of HU Tillerman which I now consider to be a very light aromatic. It's a flake tobacco made from different grades of Virginias from Tanzania, India, Zambia and the Philippines. According to tobacco reviews, it is flavored with Cocoa, chocolate, nuts and some secret ingredient. My first impression of the tin note was of a good handmade chocolate covered cherry with a touch of cherry liqueur. From the smell alone, I expected it to be goopy. I was wrong.
After smoking two bowls, I decided that Tillerman is not a heavily cased and topped aromatic. It's a good Virginia flake that someone standing five feet away spritz with a bottle of flavoring. They then sprayed the inside of the tin before packing it with the flakes. At times while smoking the first two bowls, I almost forgot it was an aromatic. To me there was a perfect balance between the tobacco and the flavoring.
I would be hard pressed to name a flake tobacco that is similar to Tillerman.
Enjoying some Hunting Creek from the Country Squire in my Stanwell sandblasted Dublin. A friend sent this to me for Father’s Day while I was gone at training. Now I get to enjoy it while I isolate
I started off the festivities this evening at a friends in Laurel, MT with some “Devil’s Holliday” in my Pete 1998 4th of July Commemorative XL02 and had another bowl of the same in my Johs pickaxe churchwarden. Great smokes for a great evening. There were so many people setting off tons of big fireworks tonight, it was awesome. I even heard there were a lot of fireworks being set off inside Billings city limits, apparently “thumbing their noses” at the city ordinance fireworks ban? I think the people here are getting tired of “The Rona”, myself included.
Had to replace the stem on my Sultan meer. I liked the old stem (which I kept), but the threads in the shank finally reached the point of nonfunction. I ordered a meer stem replacement kit from ebay for $12. After some minor surgery, the pipe is now functional once again. Decided to give it a try with some RLP-6. A very pleasant blend...
Smoking some Peterson’s “Irish Oak” tonight in the Yello-Bole #4640 Carburetor I refurbed awhile back. I am a bit apprehensive about smoking this tobacco. It is one of the first three tobaccos I tried when I first started this relaxing hobby 7-8 years ago and it made me sick as a dog (wuss, wuss, wuss, wuss) and I have not revisited it until tonight. It is not affecting me adversely tonight thankfully. Of course, it means this tobacco has aged a good many years. It is not as spicy and more sweet than I remember. I don’t know what I was apprehensive about? Tasty, and this Carburetor is not smoking as strangely as I thought it might. It is smoking nice and cool, no gurgle, nice.
