had some Sutliff Irish Creme today.Received Sutliff Mark Twain yesterday. Ordered this blend when it first came out then sort of forgot about it.Gave it another go and not sure I will buy again. Just not enough taste and note for me. Thinking about what I may mix it with.
Vanilla Custard and some Trout Stream, having a hard time signing in on Iphone and Ipad for some reason. I keep getting a message stating my user name and or password is wrong considering the fact I have automatic fill in on both. And just as equally perplexing is the fact I just got on this site using same user name and password.weird. No problem on this computer however.
@RockyMountainBriar Does that double post mean you had two Big Ben Calabash pipes? I could never get rid of my Calabash pipes, I love them all. The only one I could probably do without is my gourd Calabash. The only time I smoke it is on Sherlock Holmes' birthday. It's more of a novelty pipe to me that a practical smoker. The Big Ben Calabash is the one leaning against the telephone.
@ghostsofpompeii Only one Big Ben Calabash🙂. It looked just like yours🤔. I have to say, Calabash pipes are one of my least favorite shapes in Briar. I have an aversion to the flared bowls (not the tapered bowl of a Dublin, just the flare at the top). and also convex bowl tops.....just a personal bias against those aesthetics, nothing else. I do like my Meerschaum Gourd Calabash’s though, they are the original, so the aesthetics are what they “should be” in my minds eye🙂. There are a few briar calabashes that I like however. It was tough to get rid of that Big Ben, it had the two tone finish, pretty sharp.
@motie2 I received a small sample with an order, when such things were not frowned upon by our government. It has Latakia, so it is not in my wheelhouse. It didn’t kill me however. It was a pretty smooth tobacco....if you like Latakia?
@motie2 ~ I am a big fan of GLP English and Balkan blends. Gaslight is one of my favorite GLP blends, and one of my favorite overall tobacco blends. It's on the strong side flavor/lat-wise but a rich and satisfying smoke, IMHO. It's not a daily smoke for me but more of a special "treat" smoke.
@RockyMountainBriar In my first pipe life (early 1970's to mid/late 1980's), I smoked Balkan Sobranie and other Latakia blends. Second time around (2013 or so until today), I couldn't stand Latakia, and settled on Sutliff and Lane aromatics. But recent reviews of Gaslight have me curious.... especially the "creosote" comments.......

I had a Big Ben Calabash once. I sold it on EBay a couple? of years ago though.
