@motie2, Municipal Stadium is a private blend made by a friend of mine who is a member of my pipe club, he combines Red Virginia, White Virginia, White Burley, Toasted Burley, Perique, and Dark-Fired Kentucky, to create the blend and named it after old Municipal Stadium.
Sutliff Virginia Slices in my old IRC apple. I got a sample from a long time online pipe smoking comrade, from the old Yahoo Pipe Smokers group. Some of us now have a FB group. This is a pretty straight-forward Bright Virginia flake, and a pretty easy-going, all day sort of smoke. Will definitely buy some.
Forgive me Father for I have sinned. It has been 2 days since I last smoked a pipe. But in my defense, my sinuses started acting up after I got home from the Mardi Gras parade on Sunday and I don't smoke when fighting a sinus infection or cold. Caught it early and looking forward to a smoke later this morning. Got a tin of Captain Earle's Mystic Blend sitting on my desk and ready to load.
@PappyJoe I'd love to see some pictures of your activities at the Mardi Gras parade if you are so inclined to share. The only MG I've ever attended was in St. Louis, which was claimed to be second only to New Orleans in attendance. I suppose that was only an appetizer for what it's like in your area.
@jfreedy- Yes, that is correct. The tin it comes in is a square container with a tightly fitted cap and the tobacco is in a foil lined bag that folds over several times. Apparently, this was stored in an ideal environment because the tobacco is still moist and smokes great. Admitted, the tobacco is not as moist as it would be if it were just packed today but nevertheless, it is still smoke-able and very flavorful.
Like some of the other folks here, and thanks to @motie2, I purchase from http://pipestud.com/ when I see something I like.
Smoked a bowl of Sutliff Vanilla Custard last night in my Nording Signature Freehand. Good stuff - beautiful pipe. Ended up watching an old black and white horror movie - "The Vampire's Ghost" - and the bowl lasted the entire movie.
@jim102864 - I've never heard of a Mardi Gras in St. Louis. As for it being second in attendance I would say they have to argue that point with some of the smaller communities in the New Orleans area. I live in Slidell, about 30 miles east of New Orleans. The turnout for the parade this past Sunday was over 100,000 people on the street and that was just for one parade. We have them over 3 weekends.
Didn't take many pictures this weekend. Only two or three really and they were of me sitting in a chair, smoking my pipe as the parade rolled by.
@pwkarch Thanks so much buddy for thinking of me. I just found out that P&C also has it in stock now. I'll compare bulk prices and purchase accordingly. Thanks again...
