I did know that because you keep telling me that; I would put my "faith" in Facebook, but I don't have an account. Twitter looks reliable too, nay again, I have no account...what is someone like me to do for reliable information? (Cue the YouTube church lady.)
Ah, you cover all the culture war bases on our recently inherited AMERICAN CARNAGE.
if only politicians kept their promises, especially the one about, “This American carnage ends right here (hand gesture) and right now (emphatic gesture with pursed lips.).
They all lie...they're politicians--I would expect nothing less. I don't always 'look at what they say' as much as I 'listen to what they do' (and yes, I worded it that way on purpose). Some presidents are more effective than others...I'm sure you'll agree.
The plague, i think, has caused a collective case of PTSD. Everyone, except doctrinaire types, has experienced a loss of control. The damn virus has influenced how and whether we work, how our children are taught or not taught, how and where we travel, eat, and socialize.
The Delta variant moved in just as an end to this crap seemed near. We felt it was almost over, but rapidly our sense of victimhood returned. Rejecting vaccination has become a badge of courage for some; standing for personal freedom. It’s also a way of actually harming your tribal enemies.
Rage fills the public square. Physical violence is a time tested American way of venting anger and reasserting control. Additionally, in our anger, fear, and loss we are conditioned to look for someone to blame. Convenient scapegoats include the CDC, mRNA vaccines, masks, Trump, Fauci, Biden, BLM, the other tribe, and China. But these targets are distant, removed, so people take it out on each other, especially online, in anonymous encounters.
At times, thhis plague has brought out the best in us, but it has also brought out the worst.
@motie2; I think you have defined our current condition as well as it can be stated. Events of the last few days are sure to make things even worse.God help us!
COVID-19 DELTA WAVE HITS KIDS IN RECORD NUMBERS With the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus spreading across the U.S., children are filling hospital intensive care beds instead of classrooms in record numbers, more even than at the height of the pandemic. Many are too young to get the vaccine, available only to those 12 and over. With millions of children returning to classrooms this month, experts say the stakes are unquestionably high. [AP]
If we look at the actual numbers, I do think the panic is unwarranted
[American Academy of Pediatrics report 8/12/2021, page 4] Hospitalizations (23 states and NYC reported)*
• Among states reporting, children ranged from 1.6%-3.5% of their total cumulated hospitalizations, and 0.2%-1.9% of all their child COVID-19
cases resulted in hospitalization
Mortality (43 states, NYC, PR and GU reported)*
• In states reporting, 0.00%-0.03% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death
In other words, even if you take the larger number of 0.03%, that means 3 out of every 10,000 child cases result in death. I would assume since not all parents are testing their kids, that when you include this population, the number is even quite a bit lower than this.
To begin with, this whole pandemic thing is far to political. The amount of pressure being put on people to get the unapproved, experimental stab is unreal. Especially when the data and advise make zero sense with all the contradictions. Anything being sold by a politician is questionable at best.
I really don't know why anyone is so worried whether others get the vaccine or not, as @Balisong has stated, they are simply infected others who are themselves unvaccinated, I really don't know what the big deal is with pushing vaccines on those that are obviously hesitant about getting them. By the way, I myself am vaccinated, but my wife isn't; her 'natural medicines' view keeps her from getting one...does that bother me at all? No, not in the least...why? Because I'm vaccinated, so she's free to do what she wants.
I will say this, though, I want to thank all the good, honest, taxpaying citizens on this website because I just got $22,000 in federal student loans forgiven through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program!!! Yay!!! It couldn't have happened without all of you "chipping in"!

I suspect you're perhaps yankin' our cranks. No one that eschews the kool-aid "puts his faith" in Facebook.
"Twitter looks reliable too." ROTFLMTO
I'll stick to TPL.

Was Donald Trump a politician?
That would explain a lot…….
Hell man, half the time I don’t know what I mean. But the rest of the time I try to achieve enlightenment.

The country is far too polarized, the middle seems to be the minority.
The virus exists and is world wide.
The vaccine is beyond the test phase, less than 10% of current hospitalizations due to Covid-19 have been fully vaccinated.
BTW tobacco has not been approved for human consumption 🤔
I'll tell you what I tell/told new Board members: You are not going to get anywhere making sense.
So, don't eat tobacco?
