It's not too bad on paint jobs, actually, as long as it's not a Dodge. It's not sand, it's very dry fine particles of clay mostly. The biggest issue is it gets everywhere, in your house, in your car, etc. It's such a fine dust that it doesn't matter if windows are closed or not, it will still find it's way in.
After retiring from the Coast Guard, my first few job applications were met with "You don't have a college degree." That completely ignored the fact that I had close to 20 years of experience in the job I was applying for. The other side of that "coin" was that I signed up with a temp agency to do clerical work. The second job I was sent to, the owner was expecting it to take at least five days to get the work done. He bought out my contract the second day and made me his executive assistant and office manager.
Two years later, I applied for a position as a magazine editor for a printing company. The person doing the hiring actually looked at samples of my writing and photography work and decided to hire me. Eight years later, I replaced her.
Sometimes, experience is better than a college degree but you can't convince people who have bought into the MYTH that college degrees make you a smarter, more well-rounded person.
The goal since 2008 was to increase the price of conventional energy in order to make inefficient alternative/green energy look more attractive. Back then it was to keep gas at or close to $4/gallon, that was the baseline. This is why we are over that amount and still soaring up. It's by design folks. It has nothing to do with saving the planet and it never did.
Welp, the BPD got another one. Some dirtbag assaulting a woman last night at 11:19PM. He was pistol whipping her. It happened just a few blocks from my mom’s house (the assault). It ended a short while later after a police chase. He ended up getting shot dead just down the street from where I work. I was greeted with this sight from our parking lot this morning, actually the picture was taken off of our loading dock. My house is about 1/2 way between where it started and where it ended.
Every time I go to COSCO I pick up a case of SPAM and stock it away so I have some kind of meat in my house just in case it becomes scarce and shelves are sparse. I find myself developing into a casual prepper. Nothing too over the top - but I find myself buying things like dried beans and a variety of canned soups. Never lived through a Depression - but fear one might be on the horizon.
I'm set-up pretty well for tobacco, tea, and SPAM.
Also not a 'prepper'. I do keep some things to carry us for a little while, some freeze dried foods, ammo, NOD, a 72 hr bag in each vehicle, a few buried water tight cache containers in multiple compass directions in case we need to move. You know, the norm.
You never can tell when something might come up - and it doesn't have to be one of those major 'shit hits the fan' events. I'd had weather events cause week long power outages that ruined everything in my freezer and fridge. I live outside the city proper - meaning I have well and septic ... and with electricity for a week you can find yourself back in the stone age pretty quick. Which is why we have cases of bottled water in the garage as well as a small stockpile of food that won't spoil. And now I'm hearing the possibility of rolling black-outs this summer, meaning I'm opting to have less frozen food on hand.
I'm the same...well and septic although the septic is gravity. That said, have a transfer switch put in (cost me about $450) and get yourself an 8,000 watt generator with 9,000 surge watts and you'll be good to go (probably less than a grand)! Power goes out here a lot too, but at least I have water.
Another criminal went down on Monday night. He was silly enough to fire on B.P.D. Officers. One officer was grazed in the shoulder by the shooter. Thirteen officers returned fire….the criminal didn’t make it. We now have 19 officers out of about 160 on paid leave from the two most recent officer involved shootings. The current “stiff” apparently made the sign of the cross while looking heavenward just before he started shooting. I’m not sure he is headed there. Apparently, he was a known criminal and was running from an arrest. His car kinda looks like Bonnie & Clyde’s car when they were stopped back in 1934. Moral of the story…don’t shoot at law enforcement, especially in Montana.
@RockyMountainBriar; When I was in my teens that car was on display in a sideshow on the midway at The Iowa State Fair. Well worth the 25 cents to see it.

I know too many failures with college degrees.
Sheesh. What the hell is wrong with people?
Right on, Brother.
Spam anyone?
I would eat that but would prefer the hash brown on the side.
RIP 😥

But Goodfellas? Come on man!
The wolf always has your scent before you ever have his.
I don't shop Costco but I do stock up on can goods this time of year. Not a peppers but a hurricane survivor.
