@KA9FFJ Yes, Montana was an open-carry state all along. One could even open-carry a pistol into a bar and imbibe, although it is not advisable. I saw quite a few hunters that were “strapped” during hunting season in small town bars and saloons. We did have shall issue concealed carry as well, we just had to get a permit through our sheriffs offices. However, with the CCW permit, one could not carry into anyplace that served alcohol for consumption on the premises such as bars or restaurants or even carry concealed while drinking alcoholic beverages at all, CCW=No alcohol. With the new permit-less carry law that was just passed, by a fairly wide margin, and signed by our governor, it is legal to carry concealed even in bars while consuming alcoholic beverages. Basically wherever it was legal to open-carry before, we can concealed carry now. Hopefully people won’t get stupid and abuse this right. I use to have a CCW permit back when the “Brady Law” was in effect. I could forego the 10 day waiting period to purchase a firearm that was in effect until the “instant background check” was implemented. Since I had already been “vetted”, the permit let me conclude the purchase of firearm at the time I bought it. I let it lapse after the instant check came into effect, and hadn’t bothered to renew it. Also, as long as we were outside city limits and engaged in a “sporting activity” we could carry concealed as well. It was mainly so hunters, fisherman, whatever could carry a handgun for self protection when in the woods from bears, cougars, moose, 2-legged animals, etc. There is a long ways between help in some spots. I started to carry this little “mousegun” the day the law was signed by The Honorable Montana Governor Greg Gianforte. KELTEC P-32 .32ACP, it’s not big, but it disappears when concealed and I sure as hell don’t want to be shot with one, and I really, really, hope I never have to employ it. As they say, any firearm is better than the one you leave at home because it’s too big and/or uncomfortable. Luckily, here in Montana the chance it will ever be used for self defense is almost non-existent. I hope Montana stays this safe, but there are more and more criminals about. I guess it is the nature of things, more people equals more dirtbags.
By the way, Montana is also a “Castle Doctrine” and “Stand Your Ground” state as well. If someone gets caught breaking into a residence or tries to car-jack/rob someone, they better be prepared to be on the receiving end.
I have never heard of any problems with open carry in bars in Montana in my lifetime. I hope it stays that way with the new permit-less CCW. As a side note, I believe that if one is in the possession of any firearm, the alcohol...and any other “mind/mood altering”drugs, legal or otherwise, should not be used. Firearm responsibility should equal zero tolerance.
The authorities can and will use a photo like that against you. Be careful what you post. Still life weapon portraits are one thing; pointing weaponry at unknown viewers is another, in the minds of the cops looking you over.
@Londy3 I bought the S&W 686P 2.5" barrel some years ago, been shooting and carrying it ever since. It is an awesome revolver in a great cartridge with one of the best triggers around. You will never be sorry to have acquired one!
@Londy3 Sad to say, but those crazy ammo prices are probably here to stay. A few years from now, the current prices will feel like they are giving it away.

CARRY ONE...😁
Really?

How about “All trespassers will be ventilated”?
I dunno. “Violated,” suggests a — shall we say — broader and more imaginative set of consequences?
I said no trespassing!
Is that a cross I see in the background? Have you already been using your backhoe?
Ah, yes! Travis Bickle Syndrome.
You know I can't talk about that.
Good looking ammo right there
I mean, yeah I can get it but I'm not paying these outrageous prices! Leave that to the newbies who have no idea 🤣
