Most of the time when I’m smoking, I’m out walking and listening on my IPod. So many artists, Allman Brothers, Springsteen, Cowboy Junkies, Van Morrison, Jazz Masters, Santana, Bonamassa,Linda Ronstadt, The Band, Dylan, Peggy Lee, Vietnamese music, French music, Spanish Music, ok I quit.
I'm pretty sure somewhere I have a CD of Cowboy Junkies. I don't think I have listened to them in 20 years. May have to dig into Spotify which has been where I keep a very growing playlist.
Cowboy Junkies, a few of my favorites- Brothers Under The Bridge, Your Missing, ( Springsteen Songs), Hollow As A Bone, Angle Mine, My Fall, to name a few.
@Beetleman; Guy Clark may be my favorite song writer. "Stuff that works" is one of my favorite songs of his. Almost 2 years ago my Mrs. and I toured the Country Music Hall of Fame and they had a display honoring Guy. His old boots, guitar, Randal Knife and assorted other items were on display. I took some pictures w/o flash, that aren't the best, but you can see some of his stuff(that worked).
Also at the Country Hall of Fame was a display on loan from the Johnny Cash Museum was a display, showing a picture of his commanding officer in the Air Force when Johnny was stationed in Germany. The Col. grew up next door to my grandfather in Bloomfield Missouri. From across the hall, I knew instantly who he was, because I grew up next door. James Whit Bennett. His parents were married 55 years to the day that my bride and I were married.
What a shock! Small world, it was like knowing royalty.
<<I've got a lot to prove, I mean to tell you
I've played the part of cool, that's what I sell you
I listen good, I listen well
You're old and you have much to tell
So come out of your quiet spell
I've heard her scream, I know she yells
I've seen it too, I know it well
So while she's gone I'll entertain you
There's not a lot that I could write about you
Your name is Bob, you smoke a pipe
That's what it amounts to
But we're the same
We are one piece
We're victims of the same disease
You deal with her, I'll deal with these
You sit and stare off into space
You've got much more to think than say
I know you won't
But you want to
You spend your time, you spend my life
Stuck in your room
I take it hard because I tried
To get you out to
To have a stroll, to have a talk
About your world, about the laws
That keep you stuck, that keep you locked
I know it's hard for you to change
Before we part our separate ways
You need to know
I understand you>>
Last evening its was a pipe full of Carter Hall while listening to "Crooked Still" They are known for their high energy, technical skill, unusual instrumentation, and innovative acoustic style.
I mostly sit and 'meditate' in silence when smoking my pipe simply because it's my time alone to think (either about personal crap or research I'm working on), that said, when I do have music on while smoking, I've found that I distinctly prefer bluegrass and/or old time music. I also listen to anything from Metallica and Alice in Chains to Hootie and the Blowfish to Lou Reed to The Clash, but these aren't really good for smoking. I wonder what it would be like to smoke to porn music? chitcha chicka chicka bah bah chitcha...
I was listening to the themed background intro music on different tactical maps in “World of Tanks” Online. Then the music transitioned into the sounds of explosions, droning heavy equipment engines, whistling incoming and outgoing artillery fire, light anti-tank rounds pinging off of my hull (hopefully), and battle commands during battles while driving my tank around and destroying other tanks😬 and getting destroyed😖. Great fun! Not the “getting destroyed” part though, that kinda sucks🤨

I have an Effingham BlackJack 1-7 Sub-Hilt that is close, and a damn fine toad-sticker, but it’s not a Randal.
