For almost two years, since I took up the pipe after a few decades of not smoking, I've been smoking Barbados Plantation exclusively. Thanks to TPL, I now enjoy (from time to time) Lane VBC (thanks, @pwkarch) and Jolly Old Saint Nicholas (thanks @pappyjoe).
I also admit to keeping a little Molto Dolce around for when I want something really sweet (like @ghostsofpompeii)..... ("Something sweet other than SWMBO, of course!)
Well it has been a long time since I have been on here and this is the topic I have chosen to return to..... LOL I have not made any recent Pipe tobacco purchases, most of my purchases have been Cigars since Spring and Summer is my Cigar smoking time, now that Fall and Winter are here I will be going back to some of my old stock which as you may have guessed it are seasonal blends. Christmas Blends like Peterson and McClellan is what I will be smoking. I will try to be online more often but not going to guarantee it since I have been staying really busy and my health is always worse in the Winter.....although I stay in more in the Colder months so who knows.
My shipment from Cup O Joes arrived today a day earlier than projected. They had a great sale on pipe tobacco, so I took advantage of it by ordering some favorites from C&D:
8oz Crooner
8oz Bayou Morning
7oz Old Joe Krantz
4oz Haunted Bookshop
2oz Big N Burley
Big N Burley is the only new blend of the bulks. I also added GLP's Jackknife Plug, which I haven't had before.
In addition, I also ordered a filter adapter for the pictured Jobey Estate. Before, air would escape between the stem and shank, which made it near impossible to get a draw out of it. I'm happy to report the adapter did the trick, and the pipe smokes great now.
Went out to order some Old Dublin. P&C said "Discontinued"; SP was out of stock, and so were IRC, JR, and 4 Noggins. Got the last two tins at Mars, and stocked up at McCranie's.
Just received my order of 16oz of each of my basics as follows: 1Q, BCA, VBC, RLP-6, Creme Brulee, and Early Morning Pipe replacement. I am set for now.
@Danfriedman -- An interesting example of "One of These Things is Not Like the Others." I'm referring, of course, to the "EMP replacement." Quite different from the aromatics.
I've enjoyed most of the ones you listed, except the1-Q that left me unimpressed. The BCA, RLP-6, and VBC are all complementary, even mixed in varying proportions. Can't miss! Good stuff! The mixtures exceed their constituent parts. I smoke the mixed blends when I'm not smoking my beloved Barbados Plantation and, recently, C&D's Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, an interesting VaPer/Aromatic hybrid.
Good morning @motie2. I like EMP as my everyday morning puff. The others are for out and about town on a lunting. 1Q mixes with some other strong flavors and works well by itself when I don't want to offend.
Retired owner of my very local B&M gave me this very old tin of original Ashton Black Parrot to revitalize and try. Delicious VaPer. Nice to have friends with deep cellars.
@PappyJoe - He's a gem and a great resource for all things pipe/tobacco. He's also a great guy that I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to meet. I think it was a huge loss to our community when he retired. Here's an article from our local paper when he retired. The can is +20yrs old (he recently acquired it from the cellar of an old friend who recently died). It had been recently opened, and the tobacco was a little dry, so I've been trying to bring it back to life. I've had two great smokes out of it.
Vanilla Custard is a good tobacco, I liked it. Now looking for Dulce de Leche and Chocolate Mousse but can't find who have them. Found Chocolate Mousse at P&C but they are selling by pound and I looking for 2oz. for tying it, same goes for Dulce de Leche.
@riobrusa If you mean who carries Dulce de Leche, you'll find it with all the other Sutliff blends on the P&C site... I really love it and do at least 2 bowls of that blend a week...
Just made a big order of Sutliff's Creme Brûlée, Vanilla Custard, and Chocolate Mousse to make a certain blend some of you gentleman have told me about. Got another tin of Molto Dolce, and bought some Sunset Rum and Buttered Rum to try. Looking forward to it coming in!
@Michael308 -- Remember, you can substitute Molto Dolce for Creme Brûlée in Mrs. Hudson's if you want a slightly sweeter smoke.
I should also mention that I tried substituting Lane VBC for the Sutliff Vanilla Custard. It worked out well, but with a stronger vanilla presence, as VBC is stronger, vanilla-wise, than Vanilla Custard.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been out of country for 3 weeks and just got back this weekend.
The stand was a lucky find at the Habitat for Humanity store. I think I paid $3 or $4 for it. Would love to find a dozen more. ;-)

The Vanilla Custard is exceptional by itself, and mixes well with other blends. However, for pure vanilla tobacco, I prefer the Lane VBC.
