So I'm having a bowl of Bengal slices before having a dinner that I make once a year. The dinner is driven by the availability of produce from my garden and in this instance it's the Okra. Been frosting 3 nights a week for the past two weeks
While I cant take credit for the meats in this Jambalaya, all the produce including the garlic, onions, peppers, parsley, scallions okra, cayenne excluding the celery are from my garden.
While in New England this past week I stopped back in to a great little B&M in Manchester NH, Castro's Backroom. While there in July I spied two NOS Hardcastle Bent Bulldogs. The manager made me a "smokin deal" on the pair (pun intended).
When I got home, had a nice addition for the Tobacco Cellar awaiting.
My Loot (I decided to add a few aromatics to my last order): 3 John Bull ($2), 5 John Cotton 1 ($4), 2 Erinmore Flake ($4.5 & 5),2 Balkan Sasieni ($4.5 & 5), 4 Stanwell Malange ($3.5), 2 WarHorse Ready Cut ($ 4.5-5), 2 MacBaren 7 Seas Gold 3.5 ounces ($4-5), 2 Marquee Viprati ($4.4-5),2 Gurkha Retribution ($4.5-5),CAO Cherry Bomb ($4).Dunhill Aparitif ($6).. Add around a buck per tin for shipping.
It always makes for a better day at work when I get my Tobak Loot delivered there. Today was some Seattle Pipe Club “Deception Pass”, G.L. Pease “Cairo”, and some Samuel Gawith “Celtic Talisman”. They all smell wonderful. The tin note of “Deception Pass” reminds me of one of my Sutliff tobaccos, maybe “Blue Danube”, “Charlemagne”, “Roma Vita”, “Metropolitan”, or “St. George’s Blend”??? I am not sure, as I have not smoked them in awhile. I am going to have to rummage through my cellar and pop the Mason jars to try and figure it out. Oh, by the way, I started buying tobacco 4 ounces/100 grams at a time (at least). I have found that these amounts will just fit in my half-pint Mason jars. I wish I had done this when I first started up this hobby, I would have twice as much McClelland’s “Beacon”☹️ That is my new Radice Silk-Cut, the first sandblasted pipe I have purchased.....on purpose. The few others I acquired were all in pipe lots I bought for one of the other pipes in the lot. I promptly sold or gave away all of the other sandblasted pipes.
@Bonanzadriver How does that Five Brothers smoke? I have some. I like burley. I have not cowboy’d up and tried it yet for fear of the sythe of the nicotine specter stirring my guts to expulsion.
@Bonanzadriver Have you ever smoked Samuel Gawith’s “Black XX”? If so, how does the nicotine compare? I smoke “Black XX” in the smallest pipes I have, and then sometimes I have to proceed on the side of caution and dump out part of the bowl. That stuff has some nicotine.
Recieved my Captain Black promo today. For me my favorites are No. 1 CB Dark, No.2 CB Royal, No.3 CB Original,, No.4 CB Gold, CB Cherry is definitely meant to be mixed with some other blend,

I take back what I said. I picked up a tin of Molto Dolce. I do not remember how cool and consistent this one was.
And finding that used up all your luck so you didn't win the lottery last night. LOL
But, I've never paid $20 for a tin of Holiday Spirit...

It's like Carter hall on Steroids and Nitro! ;-)
I'm pretty much an English, Balkan, Oriental smoker. But, I do really enjoy Carter Hall. I use it to break in my new pipes or newly refurbished ones.
Five Brothers is a very Full Bodied Smoke for me.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but definitely wouldn't want to fill up one of my "Big" pipes with it.

I do have some 1792, and it's plenty stout enough for me. Prolly only smoke it once a month or so.
