Just ordered some more Captain Black Royal and decided to try Boswell’s Countryside and Pipers Delight. Anyone had experience with either one of those Boswells??
Just placed an order for L.J. Peretti's Thanksgiving cake. I always hear pipers talk about it, but never tried it for myself. Decided to give it a try and give my thoughts on it once it arrives.
Haven't bought much in the past few months other than the Captain Black Sample from Pipes & Cigars and the two tins of Cornell And Diehl Jolly Old Saint Nick. Unless I see something new, or an extremely good deal I'm limiting my purchases until I make a substantial dent in my current Cellar.
Anybody know where I can get some Samuel Gawith's Squadron Leader? Really want to try some but all of my normal sights are sold out. Was just wondering if there were any "off the beaten path" sites so to speak that may still have some. On that note what are some of your favorite sites to get tobaccos from?
Although I smoke English's and Balkan's the majority of the time, I do have a sweet tooth for Peach Aro's.. I've accumulated half a dozen or so varieties, including Briarworks Peach Cobbler and Sutliff's Peach Cobbler.
I'd encourage you to give Sutliff a try as well, it nudges out Briarworks by a smidge, for me at least.
I took up the pipe freshman year of seminary, circa 1964. First tobacco I tried was John Rolfe, a peach blend favored by the organist/choirmaster. It bit like a barracuda.
Haven't tried very many Peach blends, Sutliff Private Stock A Taste Off Summer has a good peach taste and room note. I don't think @ Bonanzadriver you would be dissatisfied with this blend.
So last night we had an informal gathering of Chicago Pipe Collectors Club (CPCC) at very nice place called Arlington Cigar and Pipes lounge.
Great staff, decent selection, and just a nice place to hang out.
As luck would have it a regional sales Mgr. for Arango cigar co was there selling some very nice pipes and also had some of their tobaccos. In addition he had brought a singer guitar player who preformed and was quite good.
To my surprise (and part of the reason I am mentioning all this) there was a table set up with all of the various Esoterica tobaccos in bags and tins.
As Arango is the sole importer for Esoterica I spoke to the rep for awhile on the subject of availability.
Won't bore you with the details other than to say they had begun shipping Esoterica products to all the various vendors this week.
So if your a fan of Esoterica you may want to start checking your usual suppliers this week.
Just ordered some Sutliff Chocolate Mousse, Russ Snow Drift, Sutliff Sunset Rum and some H&H Carmel Apple Pie. Hope this blend is a pleasant surprise, first time I will be trying this blend.
Two days ago, on the recommendations of @PappyJoeand @motie2 I ordered some Jolly OSN. If all goes well, it should arrive Friday... I can hardly wait.
Side note: If it wasn't for the guys here at TPL, I would still be plugging along with almost exclusively Black Cavendish, and only 4 or 5 other blends (off and on) to simply break the monotony. But my cellar now has over 30 blends and almost every day I'm like a kid in a candy store. I walk into my pipe room and sit down in a high-backed winged chair and I've spent as much as 20 minutes simply deciding on the "blend of the day". It has made piping more enjoyable and exciting. And at 70, that's saying something...

I have been on the lookout for a Peach Aro, sounds like Sutliff Peach Cobbler is “the one” then?
You should take a look at @PappyJoe's website for his article on Briarworks Peach Cobbler

So this just came in. Once opened how long will it keep in the tin? Trying to decide if I should jar it up.

I picked up a tin of Esoterica's Pembroke and one of Margate.
Been wanting to try Margate for a while now but never got lucky enough to find any. I guess my luck is starting to change.
Hopefully its worth the wait.
