Very sad to say that my little guy made it through Christmas, but didn't make it into the new year. I have lost pets before but loosing a dog with kids around has been just awful. He was blind, he was deaf, but he sure was loved and happy right up to the very end. Happy trails smoking buddy.
Zouave SO sorry.....i have lost too many fine furry friends over the years. It is heartbreaking as I well know. Do yourself, your family, and your little buddy who passed. Go to a shelter and adopt another sentinent soul, not to replace your recent friend, but to help another to become a friend as well.
@Zouave I'm sorry to hear about your dog. My wife and I had to put our dog Chloe down last July. I've had to say goodbye to cats before, and ones I dearly loved, but nothing hurt more than saying goodbye to my blind little lady. I know we were hoping for her to meet our son after he was born, but it couldn't happen. However, she slept on my wife the last two months of her life, and I'm sure she felt him kicking and moving in the womb.
I can't imagine what it's like for a dog to lose their hearing and sight. I'm sure it must be scary for them. However, you took care of your buddy, kept him safe, and happy during those rough days. I'm sure he'll always be thankful that you were there when he needed you the most.
@Zouave My condolences sir. My most recent loss was over a year ago, Scrat (cat) and I still miss him. My new kitty Felix fills most of the void, but not all. Hope to see some pics of your new furry friend if you decide to companion one....or more🙂
@RockyMountainBriar thanks, and will do. The kids are already looking up every animal on gods green earth. There is going to need to be some ground rules. Rule #1. It has to have at least 4 legs.
@Zouave Ohh, a ferret.....ferrets are pretty cool. I had one once, they just make me smile with their antics. They are not too difficult to take care of either, almost like a cat. If they were more easily obtainable, I probably would have opted for one again instead of a kitten. Felix (my new kitty) has some “ferret like” antics anyway. He makes me smile too😀
The boys taking a snooze. We do have a odd combo of furry friends in our home. Beagles and rabbits, well as of yesterday its beagles and a rabbit. We lost one of our rabbits yesterday. After surgery he went in to cardiac arrest and passed. Yes my pipe did get mighty warm last night. So we must enjoy our furry critters while we can because we never know when they will be called home.
Sorry for your family’s loss @Monk70, losing a furry friend is tough😢 My friends that now reside in Tennessee just lost their last dachshund this week. They have lost four in the last year. They had been with them for many years. He thinks they will try to space out the next puppies so as to not lose them all at nearly the same time.
I thank you guys a bunch. This little rabbit had a cool attitude. Way too young to leave us. Our beagle boys are 13 now and we are seeing a quicker decline in one of them so I fear that our “Chewy” may be the first this year. I hope not but I have been trying to prepare. When I became disabled they stayed by my side through some really bad times and kept me comfortable when alone while the Mrs. was at work. They seem to become your children and they are a special gift from God. My wife and I are truly thankful for you guys and your kind words. It’s nice to be part of a group of good men. Pax Et Bonum ⚓️
Sorry for your loss @Monk70 , it's never easy to lose a pet. It's also hard when you know their time is coming soon. That's how it was last year with our dog. It was especially hard on my wife when we went and had her put to sleep. For Christmas, I surprised my wife with a canvas of her holding our dog as she looked up at her. Her reaction alone was worth it. May you find peace and comfort over the next few days.

So, no mollusks, eh?

😳 At least? four legs. 😳
Spiders, crabs, ants, centipedes, millipedes.....nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. 🙂
Public service announcement: Mollusks ain’t got no steenkin’ feet......
I think they do have a foot though?
There’s a joke here. Something to do with “..... if it was any longer, it’d be a foot.”
He's too cute to get mad at him...😍
Awe, poor beast.
Surround yourself with things that make you smile 😁
