The right and left can't exist without each other. The question before us is how far apart they can grow and exist together. The right without a left becomes an oligarchy, the left without the right degrades to communism...neither democratic (in the political organization definition of freely elected.)
@Balisong balance in parties is like a checks-and-balances system for constituents. Some would argue that having the country split almost equally is a bad thing, but it isn't in my opinion; an unbalanced system, as you implied, results in one party pushing out the other party, which itself ends up in the scenarios you outlined. So, things may be more "tense" for lack of a better term, but overall, it's better for the system as a whole.
DC is a setup for the 18th... either way you view it, they will blame conservatives for whatever may or may not happen. Dems will use/spin outcome as a weapon as usual.
@Londy3 I did have a good laugh at all the pictures of the undercover feds wearing similar "normie" outfits hanging out together. Also had a good chuckle when the capitol police surrounded a suspect that turned out to be an undercover cop, and had to "arrest" him to save face. I'll take the moments to laugh, because I've been too depressed from the world these last few months. At least we're not living in Australia and experiencing the insanity there.
I was heartbroken at the news of Norm MacDonald's passing. When I was a teenager in the 90's, I watched SNL every Saturday. Weekend Update with Norm was my favorite part. I dug his style of humor, and it helped shape my own taste in comedy. I can't believe he's gone, but I admire his strength in dealing with cancer. I watched his netflix special tonight, and seeing his jokes about death seemed to be his quiet way of dealing with his situation.
We had our son's first birthday party this past Saturday, though the actual day is on Wednesday. It was truly a wonderful time, and I feel so lucky to be able to celebrate these moments with him.
@thebadgerpiper Don't get depressed, this too shall pass (as I've mentioned before). We already see it happening. We barely hear about BLM anymore and antifa seems nowhere to be found except in sporadic engagements on the west coast. I truly think many people are sick and tired of the whole covid thing, especially, as you pointed out, when they look at countries such as Australia. Americans have an uncanny way of pushing back at things that rock the boat too much, and we see that happening, it just takes a while for it to happen. Personally, I can't wait for the leaves to change on the Blue Ridge Parkway this year, supposed to be a great show (compared to recent years). As you did with your son's birthday, enjoy the small things in life, life's too short not to...and remember, if you put a bunch of small things together, it equals one big thing, lol.
Shortcut files with the .inetloc extension can have commands embedded inside them, which can execute all sorts of things. If someone sends you a file with the .inetloc extension and you open it on Big Sur or older versions of the OS, the file can execute commands with no other interaction on your part.
@thebadgerpiper Great to hear from you Greg. I feel the same as you, I get it. Stepping outside my house into the real world sickens me because I don't recognize the America grew up in. I absolutely hate it for my 16 y/o daughter having to deal with all this nonsense. Happy birthday to your little one! How time flies. Cherish these moments, every one. It's fun to reflect on and will make you feel good. Live for the small moments. Live for the day. Turn off the TV and get off your phone. As @vtgrad2003 said, this too shall pass. Gimme a call sometime. I hope you are able to enjoy a pipe now and then. Peace brother.
<<Sure, it’s only September, but this year, now’s the time to start planning for Thanksgiving—especially if you want to serve turkey.
Unfortunately, it appears turkeys could be hard to come by the closer we get to Thanksgiving. A whirlwind of food shortages, higher prices, and shipping issues mean you might want to go ahead and buy that bird now.>>
Well, this is certainly calling at least half the members of this forum idiots I would say...yes, in fact, it's a great example

Oh, and I'm sure all of your rants on covid, masks, wormer, etc., were about pipe smoking "This is supposed to be a forum for discussing pipe smoking."
You really should look in the mirror before you post these things.

Ummm, what's happening this weekend? (A question from my ignorant self, lol.)

Life's so much easier when you grow your own, we have 10 in the freezer.
You know something my grocery clients don't know.
It must be true!
I'll bet you are right. All the turkeys are in Washington DC.

Why do the administrators put up with this kind of vile behavior? This is getting way out of hand.
Administrators? Administrators?
Wait! We're supposed to have an administrator? That's like having adult supervision in a daycare or something.
How long do we have to put up with this abiuse?

Maybe go back to writing about pipe smoking?
