<<Dr. Philip's pipes, what you would call a revolutionary design for 1951, replaceable ceramic bowls and supposedly a lot of features for pipe smokers. The 1951 price was about $5, There were two sizes, the short and long smoke model. Both came with four extra ceramic bowls which somehow fit into the outside briar bowl.>>
I have one that is nearly the same, it was made in NY, but it does not have any discernible manufactures stamp. When I acquired it, the aluminum fully threaded ring was oxidized and stuck. Sad to say, while trying to remove it, I broke the original ceramic bowl. I have since made a meerschaum replacement.
@motie2@RockyMountainBriar my brother in law sent me a link to an auction site that had 25 of them up for bidding today. Apparently it went for $200 on the nose.
@motie2 That blowfish - I once saw something similar to that pulled out of a guys chest... That Radice - All that's lacking on that one is a trigger... 😏
This is is from the Signals Christmas catalog for 2020, $24.95, and in keeping with the dreadful year, is on backorder. Nonetheless, Merry Christmas everyone!

A WORLD OF PIPES - PART VII
CLAY PIPES HAD APPEARED IN LONDON BY 1573, BUT LITTLE IS KNOWN ABOUT THOSE THAT WERE BROUGHT TO ENGLAND IN 1586 BY THE COLONISTS FROM VIRGINIA.
