Heh, heh. Behold my new baby. $22.50 including shipping on eBay. Straight grain. Smoked maybe a few times; no cake. Why? Despite it's looks and obvious quality, it was defective; the Magic Inch holes were too small/mis-drilled. Guy who owned it originally probably thought it sucked, and un fixed, it probably did.
Took a minute to fix with a hand drill and a sharp bit.
@motie2 The thing I find so amazing about the Carey pipes is how seldom you really need to change the filter. I bought a tube with a hundred filters in it and I'll bet I haven't used more than four in better than a year. And unlike normal 6 or 9mm filters that fit in the stem rather than the unique filter design of the Carey Magic Inch ... you never get a bad taste in your mouth from a used filter. I think that's why I seldom change the filters. With a regular 9mm filter pipe after two smokes it already starts tasting rancid.
I don’t put the Carey papyrate in the same class as a filter. It is more of a passive moisture sponge. It is not directly in the smoke path, so it does not effect the flavor of the smoke like true filters do. It’s the best of both worlds.
I’m not sure if SWMBO put great thought into one of my birthday gifts or if she was just tired of my favorite Carey pipes cluttering up the kitchen counter. Either way, I’m appreciative of the new pipe stand.
I must say that they are a great value. Even new they are affordable and I believe you get more than you pay for! A solid pipe and I think this is the first of many to come!

My mom had it on the breakfast table full of orange juice, we had company too. I don’t think anyone knew what it actually was until sometime later😂😂😂. Yes, it was cleaned in the dishwasher beforehand.
Had one shitheaded shipmate who bought his own plastic hospital urinal bottle, and liked to use it instead of a glass or mug when he went out drinking.
There was little to call virtuous about him, even by accident. His main purpose was to gross people out by "apparently" drinking urine (actually beer) straight out of the urinal bottle.

Negatives: less than optimum nylon stems; not bad, but could be a bit more substantial, especially if you are a clencher
