That Olive Wood is a sharp looking pipe. In addition to their website and eBay, EA Carey also sells on Amazon, which is convenient because I tend to get Amazon Gift Cards on occasion.
@KA9FFJ - I don't have an Olive Wood, so I'll readily admit that the information I have comes secondhand from a friend who has three of them. The higher quality Olive Wood smokes as well as most of the mid-level briar pipes he owns. He didn't have any problem breaking in two of his pipes but he did have just a slight olive taste with each the first time he smoked them. The third pipe, he said, gets hotter than the briar and it took five or six bowls before he stopped noticing the olive oil taste. None of them get as hot as a pear root pipe.
In other words, there is going to be a variance in how they smoke based on the quality of the wood and expertise of the carver. Sort of like with a briar.
Whether you are a new customer or you've smoked our tobaccos for years, this is the best time to sample any of our 32 Carey blends. Buy one of each blend or stock up on your favorites.

I recently bought a Carey pipe on eBay that was advertised as a Meerschaum. Based on the pictures, I assumed it was Meerschaum lined briar, but for $9 I couldn’t pass it up. It arrived recently and much to my surprise, it is indeed Meerschaum. (Possibly African Meerschaum?) It had been used and abused to the point where a pipe cleaner would not pass through the stem. Dozens of pipe cleaners later and taking care not to run the cleaner into the base of the bowl, it’s opened up and smokes like a dream. Aside from the magic inch system and vented stem, there are no Carey markings on the stummel. (Although, none of my meerschaum’s have stummel markings). I’m wondering if someone created this as a Frankenpipe with parts or if any Carey aficionados here have any thoughts or knowledge of it being an actual Carey?
I have 2 of these in my rotation and they are amoung the best smokers in my stable. This one has a great starting bid, for those who may be interested.
A recent eBay acquisition. Before and after. I haven’t buffed it with carnauba yet. The finish is just from micro mesh and jewelers rouge. After a carnauba buff, it should be like glass.
@Kmhartle Yes, I was eyeing that one.... Not to buy; just to ogle. SWMBO says 13 EA Careys are enough. ( Just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean I can't look at the menu. )
@motie2 Maybe you need to remind your wife that Father's Day is just around the corner. And nothing makes a father smile more than a new Carey Pipe. Besides that ... the number 13 is bad luck. You need to get one more for that reason alone.

I've tried three of their blends; OK but just OK; nothing I bought twice. Best of the lot was their flagship: Classic Black Aromatic.
Back in the day, when I smoked English/Latakia and VaPer blends, I had Comoys, GBDs, Savs, Iwas Ries, Duncan Hill and others I can't remember. And even back then, I favored my two EA Careys. Now I have 15 pipes and the only non- EA Carey is the Duncan Hill. Twelve of my EA Careys were purchased used from eBay; a few were gifts from cherished friends.
De gustibus and all that, but IMHO Careys give the best smoke.
I just succumbed to the temptation on eBay and got a trio of Carey's.
Wondering just what this pipe (the biggest of the 3) is lined with, because to my eye judging from the photo the lining resembles dried-out caulking compound, or antique fiber-board more than meerschaum.
'cause the other two were a briar, and what might be a meerschaum stummeled (or a white-finished briar?) pipe. For the price, if this one is not really usable, it still ain't bad.

It looks like that pipe should clean up nicely.

Roger that. Makes sense.
