@SgtDanner I wondered if that is where your user name came from. I love my Danner Ft. Lewis boots. I have three pair. The first pair I bought around 1982, they are still awesome boot, I just outgrew them. The second pair I bought around 1998, they are still ok, but they need resoled and there are a couple of small cracks in the leather my foot bends, but I still wear them. The third pair I bought around 2007 when I wanted another pair for when riding my Harley (the first two pair had 600 grams of Thinsulate insulation..a bit warm for Montana summers) so I bought an lighter pair, they too need to be resoled. I have to say, the newer pair does not have the build/material quality of the first two pair The Danner Ft. Lewis were issue boots for my brother's Marine Recon unit here in Montana at some point...it was a cold weather unit. I had bought my first pair many years before they were issued to my brothers unit however.
i didn't realize i'd already made a username here. I'm in the Corn Cob Nation Facebook group and the lady moderator is known as the Cob Queen. There can only be one queen so i chose princess. i love my cobs! i also have a zippo lighter with pipe insert that has a crown with pink crystals on it that says 'princess'. In other pipe circles I'm known as Lady Margaret....
A balisong is the Filipino name of what is commonly called a butterfly knife here. I sold dozens of them from my martial arts and cutlery shop and adopted the handle for online poker rooms. Now if I can figure out how to get rid of the smiley face...
@Balisong Just click on your username in the top left corner. There will be a “change picture” above the smiley, just grab the pic you want out of your saved pics and go from there.
NellieFox and I have a few things in common. We are both under rated over achievers. I go by Java3 on a coupe of other forums and when I signed up on here (quite a long time ago) I thought I would mix it up a bit.A good thread!!
I am a Reformed Baptist who holds to the doctrinal standards of the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. I also happen to be an avid pipe smoker. The two passions gave birth to my user name.
On this site you will find the British Library’s two copies of Johann Gutenberg’s Bible, the first real book to be printed using movable type, the technique of printing which Gutenberg invented in the 1450s. He did not, in fact, invent the printing press itself..... https://www.bl.uk/treasures/gutenberg/homepage.html
It’s my first name and the first letter of my last name. I’m super original, I know, but since there is virtually no one else other than my father with the name of ‘Rondy’ it’s pretty much never already taken!
Hahaha. Yeah, we did a search about fifteen years ago and found about seven other men named “Rondy” out there, and a few women named Rondi.
But my father’s name wasn’t even supposed to be Rondy. His mother called him and I “Rodney” until the day she died. His brother was Raymond, his other brother is Donald, and we think that his name was meant to be Rodney but there was an error on his birth certificate and Rondy it became.
Well first game hosting the poker crew it seemed like an ace and four would drop on the flop like every other hand. The hand is now known as the Fuquay, the town I live in, to the poker crew.
19Echoes actually known officially as ("19E") or more the more official title "Armor Crewman M48/M60" was my first MOS when I joined the US Army back in the early 80's. I later reclassed as a 96B ("Military Intelligence Analyst"). I've included a picture of a much younger me (from approx. 1985, sitting on my tank at the Tennelehoe Range outside of Ferris Kasern, in Erlangen, West Germany.
Last name is Smith, therefore Smitty. My first job in the Army was medic and people called me Doc Smitty. Once I changed over to transportation, people that knew me continued calling me Doc Smitty and my answer was always, "it's Just Smitty!" Eventually JustSmitty stuck and 76 is my birth year.
20 some years ago I was vary new to computers and thus new to forums. 1st forum I signed up to they asked for a user mane and I had no idea. My wife had just bought an antique blue and white creamer in the shape of a cow, and it was still on the desk.....so Bluecow. I've just stuck with it
@Neoshaone; I don't know if you have other grand kids, but having a granddaughter is like falling in love all over again. It has happened to me three times now.
A friend set it up for me using one after the name of my hometown, however she misspelled the name! I just left it. It is also appropriate, since that is the town where i squired my first pipe from my parents next door neighbor.
